How it works
marketBid curve power Bid curve power
AppliancesCalculate energy need
Send bid on how much energy at what price
Auctioneer calculates price where supply=demand
Sends back market price
Appliance switched on if in the money
The cool part
• You decide if/how/when someone else controls equipment
• Market knows how much flexibility is available
• No unexpected lost comfort or mismanagement of devices
• Works in your home just as good as for a (local) market
8
The tricky part
• You need a standard format for the (energy) bid
• Fitting it in millions of appliances means it should cost next to nothing
• Appliances manufacturers and energy providers need to cooperate
