guarantee employment.
Registrations received after the deadline date may
cause a delay in students receiving or purchasing text-
books in time for course start date.
Refund policy: Withdrawal from any non-credit
class must be submitted in writing to the Workforce
& Community Education office up to one business
day prior to the first class. Absolutely no refunds
will be issued after the first class has begun. The
college reserves the right to cancel any course for
which there is insufficient enrollment. In that event,
a full refund will be issued.

**To make an appointment for an entrance exam please sign up as
follows (a 4-function calculator will be provided for the Pharmacy
Technician entrance exam):
1. Log onto www.timecenter.com/trcc
2. Click on Make-up, Special Accommodation,& Workforce Test
3. Click on date and time of your choosing
4. Complete the requested information. When asked for a Student ID
number, please notate “non-credit” and the type of test you are taking
(for example, Pharmacy Tech). You will receive a confirmation text or
email of this scheduled appointment.
Note: Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment (Room
A117). There is no food or drink allowed in the Testing Center. There
is no use of cell phones, headphones, notes, etc., during testing.
Students must present a picture ID in order to enter the Testing Cen-
ter

What is a Pharmacy Technician?
Pharmacy Technicians may work in hospitals,
clinics, home infusion pharmacies, community
pharmacies, retail pharmacies, mail order phar-
macies, long term care facilities, pharmacy ben-
efit managers, or large industrial complexes.
Technician’s work under the supervision of a
registered pharmacist.
Knowledge and Competency
Course content includes:
Medical terminology specific to the pharma-cy
Reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names.
Dosage Calculations
I.V. Flow Rates
Drug compounding
Dose conversions
Dispensing of prescriptions
Inventory control and billing and reimburse-ment.
Certification:
This comprehensive 84-hour program will
prepare students to enter the pharmacy field,
and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certifica-
tion Board’s (PTCB) exam.
The Pharmacy Technician Certification Pro-
gram includes a graded final exam to help pre-
pare students for the PTCB exam. The instruc-
tor will provide details in class.
The PTCB exam is included in the cost. This is
a national certification program that enables
pharmacy technicians to work more effectively
with the pharmacists to offer safe and effective
patient care and service.
There will be a computer component to this
course. Please make sure you have access to a
computer or laptop to complete homework as-
signments. Students can use any of the open
computer labs on campus. Students wishing to
use our labs are responsible for making sure
their TRCC computer account is active for the
current semester and are able to log prior to the
first class. Please contact the IT Department at
(860) 215-9049 to arrange to activate your ac-
count.
Registration Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age; High school completion (or equiva-
lent); In-house Math and English Compre-
hension Test (see back page**) Or, provide proof of prior College Lev-
el Math and English. Basic 4-function calculator. No cell
phones or programmable calculators allowed
All requirements must be submitted with registration.
