Introduction to Parents and Students:

This Inter-School Sports Information Booklet is designed to assist you by outlining some important

information about Inter-School Sports fixtures, training, transport, sporting uniforms and times. It will allow

you to plan which Inter-School Sports your son/daughter wishes to participate in during the course of the

academic year.

Inter-School Sporting information can also be found on the Inter-School Sports noticeboards that are

accessible in the new Gymnasium where the Physical Education Department are located. Team lists, fixture

information, and training details are all located there; these noticeboards should be checked regularly. In

addition, announcements during Assemblies and House time are made regularly about Inter-School Sporting

activities.

Regular updates and important information such as weekly fixtures, weekly results and team

photographs are communicated via direct parental e-mail and can also be found at the Inter-School

Sports Noticeboard which can be found at:

https://www.petermoyes.wa.edu.au/inter-school-sports-noticeboard

Peter Moyes Anglican Community School participates in a range of Inter-School sporting competitions. The

School offers a wide variety of different sporting avenues from team sports through to individual pursuits.

The Middle and Senior Schools are members of the Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) of WA.

Through this association, the School competes against other Catholic and Independent Schools in annual

Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals. The ACC also runs an Inter-School Sports competition

known as the Coastal Associated Schools (CAS) Sports League. This competition runs during Terms 1 and

2 each year and allows students to participate in the following sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Netball,

Touch Rugby, Cricket, and Tennis. Inter-School fixtures are played on a weekly basis against Prendiville

Catholic College, St. Stephen's (Duncraig), St. Stephen's (Carramar), Irene McCormack Catholic College,

St. Mark's Anglican Community School and Lake Joondalup Baptist College.

Peter Moyes Anglican Community School also competes in a number of Champion Schools competitions

run by School Sports WA including Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Surfing, and Australian Football.

The School encourages all students to actively strive towards excellence in all sporting endeavours and the

School is highly competitive in numerous sports. Students are expected to fully commit to School Sports

Teams by attending all training sessions, fixtures and being prepared with the correct equipment and sports

uniform.

Throughout the year there are numerous trials and events that allow students to earn representation in State

and National teams. All students who represent Peter Moyes ACS at Inter-School sporting competitions

receive a certificate of representation at an end of term Awards Assembly. In addition, students have the

opportunity to be selected for leadership roles such as Captains and Vice Captains and for Sports

Leadership Community Service roles such as Team Coaches, Referees, Umpires and Mentors. Students

who participate in a number of Inter-School Sports Teams may also be nominated for the Outstanding

Contribution to Sport Award made at the end of the year Student Presentation Evenings in both Middle

and Senior Schools. Students are also eligible for Sports Colours and Honours. Representation in Inter-

School teams also makes it possible for students to be recognised by being selected as a member of an

ACC Honorary All Star Team. The criteria for School Sporting Awards can be found in this Booklet.

I sincerely hope this booklet helps to inform you about the vast array of sporting opportunities that are open

to your son/daughter and the requirements of Inter-School Sports representation. I sincerely look forward to

seeing your child successfully represent the School throughout the course of the academic year.

Should you have any queries in regards to the Inter-School Sports Programme, please contact me on 9304 5500 or [email protected]. Mr. B. Streeter Director of Inter-School Sports, Health & Physical Education Teacher

Community Service Sports Leaders - CAS Summer Sports (Term 1)

Senior School Students Only (Years 10, 11 & 12) Places are limited and keenly sought by students to complete Community Service as a ‘Sports Leader’ including roles such as Team Coaches, Referees, Umpires and Mentors to the Junior Students CAS Sports Teams in Term 1.

These are integral and important roles in supporting the success of the Inter-School Sports Programme, and students who nominate and are selected often have experience of competing for the School as a Junior student.

‘Sports Leaders’ are often Year 10 students completing their Community Service hours prior to commencing Courses of Study in Year 11.

Acting as a Community Service ‘Sports Leader’ at Peter Moyes enables Senior Students to accrue the required 20 hours necessary towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and is reflected on their Certificate and their School Record. Students are always accompanied by a qualified adult and can also represent the School at Winter CAS themselves as they run on different days. A full term’s commitment is expected and hours must be personally recorded in their log book.

These leadership roles also assist students in their aspiration and applications towards Year 12 School Leadership positions including: Head Boy/Head Girl, House Captains and Prefects.

Students who represent the School in a number of Inter-School Sporting teams as well as Sports Community Service can be nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award at the end of the academic year and are eligible for Colours and Honours.

Nominations and Community Service contracts must be directly submitted to Mr. B Streeter.

Winter Sport, Term 2 All students are encouraged to represent our School. It is the School’s expectation that should your son/daughter play community sport that they would seek to represent the School in that particular sport. Peter Moyes ACS Inter-School Sport Sport encourages participation, sportsmanship and healthy competition. All fixtures, venues, transport and equipment are provided by the School at no cost. Team trials are conducted at the commencement of Term 2 and team places are strictly limited.

ACC Cross Country Squad - Boys & Girls As with all our ACC Squads, the core values from which success will follow are ‘Dedication

Hardwork, Ambition’ and these are continually emphasised to students.

The School Sports WA (SSWA) Cross Country Carnival (State Team Trials) will be held at UWA Sports Park on Friday 19th May, 2017. The Associated & Catholic Colleges (ACC) Inter-School Cross Country Carnival will be held at Perry Lakes Reserve on Thursday 1st June, 2017. This gives your son/daughter the opportunity to compete against over 67 ACC Schools from Perth and the South West District.

Students are selected following the Inter-House Cross Country Carnival in Term 1. All training, transport and event entry are provided by the School at no cost, including a breakfast after every weekly training session. An ACC Squad breakfast is conducted on the day of the ACC Cross Country Carnival at school should your son/daughter make the ‘Final’ ACC Cross Country Squad. It is fully expected that students make a full commitment for the duration of the Term. Our goal in 2017 is to remain amongst the Top 3 ACC Cross Country Schools in Perth for a third successive year and be aiming for the overall ACC Championship.

Training places are unlimited; however, only a limited number of students will be selected to represent the School following training and the Inter-House Carnival. In 2017, over 80 students regularly attended training and we often head to Quinn’s Beach to run if the weather is good. There is a specific Cross Country Programme Information Booklet detailing the entire season.

All students who represent the School at a SSWA or ACC Inter-School sporting competition will receive a certificate of representation and are eligible for Sports Awards including Colours and Honours at the termly Awards Assemblies. ACC Honorary All Star Team status can also be attained.

Community Service Sports Leaders - CAS Winter Sports (Term 2)

Senior School Students (Years 10, 11 & 12) Places are limited and keenly sought by students to complete Community Service as a ‘Sports Leader’ including roles such as Team Coaches, Referees, Umpires and Mentors to the Junior Students CAS Sports Teams in Term 2.

B Streeter.

ACC Athletics Squad - Boys & Girls

As with all our ACC Squads, the core values from which success will follow are ‘Dedication

Hardwork, Ambition’ and these are continually emphasised to students.

The Athletics WA Schools Knock Out (Years 7A & 7B, 8A & 8B, 9A, 10A & Seniors) will be held at the State Athletics Stadium, Claremont, on Thursday 24th August, 2017. The Associated & Catholic Colleges (ACC) ‘A’ Division Inter-School Athletics Carnival will be held at the State Athletics Stadium, Claremont, on Wednesday 13th September, 2017, and is the ‘pinnacle’ of the sporting calendar where the very best student athletes from all years and sports are selected to represent the School. This gives your son/daughter the opportunity to compete against other ACC Schools from Perth and the South West District. Our goal in 2017 is to remain amongst the Top 3 ACC Athletics Schools in Perth after our superb result last year and be aiming for the overall ACC Championship.

All training, transport and event entry are provided by the School at no cost. An ACC Squad breakfast is conducted on the day of the Athletics Carnival at School should your son/daughter make the ’Final’ ACC Athletics Squad. It is fully expected that students make a full commitment for the duration of the Term.

Training places are unlimited, although only limited students will be selected to represent the School following training and the Inter-House Carnival. In 2017, over 100 students regularly attended weekly training across all disciplines of track and field. There is a specific ACC Athletics Training Programme Information Booklet detailing the entire season.

All students who represent the School at an ACC Inter-School sporting competition will receive a certificate of representation and are eligible for Sports Awards including Colours and Honours at the termly Awards Assemblies. ACC Honorary All Star Team status can also be attained.
