Rancho City: Miniature pigs are permitted in agricultural residential zones. A minimum net area of 20,000 square feet is required to keep pigs for personal use.

Sacramento City: Potbellied pigs must be licensed, spay and neutered, and microchipped. Legal pet within city limits.

Clovis Vietnamese potbellied pigs are considered to be kept as pets, excluding farm animals. Must be spay or neutered.

Riverside County It is unlawful for any person to own, harbor, keep or maintain any miniature pig also known as a potbellied pig. Potbellied pigs are not classified as swine. A Vietnamese

potbellied pig may be kept as a pet in residential zoning

district. However, keeping a potbellied pig is subject to

the city code requirement that apply to other pets,

including vaccinations, and licensing.

NORTH CAROLINA

Town of Carolina Beach Allows Vietnamese potbellied pigs as pets.

Weaverville The keeping and raising of registered purebred miniature

Vietnamese potbellied pigs and other similar registered

miniature pigs as household pets shall be allowed in all

residential districts, shall be registered with a nationally

recognized miniature pig association. Miniature pigs shall

not exceed a weight of 100 pounds. Only one such

miniature pig shall be kept in any household, no such

miniature pig shall be allowed outside of the premises of

its owner except on a leash or duly restrained in a vehicle.

The breeding and raising of miniature pigs shall not be

allowed within the town. Permitted pigs shall be

neutered or spayed, any person wishing to keep and

maintain a miniature pig within the town shall fill out and

present an application form to the town clerk. All

miniature pigs kept as household pets must be routinely

vaccinated against infections and all communicable

diseases common in such animals, the owner of any

miniature pig growing tusks may have to surgically be

removed by a veterinarian.

Belton Keeping of miniature swine (pot-bellied pigs) there will be

a maximum of two swine per household. The swine may

be of any age. All miniature swine must be either spayed

or neutered. Under no circumstances may the person

engage in the breeding of miniature swine within the city

limits. It will be unlawful for any person to keep or

maintain miniature swine outdoors. A person may permit

miniature swine outdoors for brief periods as necessary

to exercise and waste elimination, must be a secure area

to prohibit the swine from running at large. Annual

vaccinations against erysipelas, parvo virus, leptospirosis

and rabies.

Arlington

Pot-bellied pig shall mean that breed of miniature pig

meeting the standards established by NAPPA is allowed

within the city limits.

Lewisville Potbellied pigs allowed within the city limits.

City of McAllen Keeping of miniature Vietnamese, Chinese or Oriental

potbellied pig is allowed. No more than one kept on any

one parcel on a residential zoned district, not to exceed

more than a hundred pounds, must be on a leash when

off owner’s property, no breeding within the city limits,

spay or neuter, vaccinated, licensed, tusks must be

removed.

Bedford Miniature pig permitted must be spay or neutered and

Spainish Fork City Has enacted an ordinance wherein residents can house

potbellied pigs on their property. Only one pig is allowed

per lot. The price for a potbellied pig permit is $15 per

year. Permit must be obtained at the Spainish Fork Police

Department.

VIRGINIA Chesapeake Keeping of pigs as pets permitted in certain districts.

Vietnamese Potbellied Pigs, Juliana Pigs or a veterinarian

–certified similar breeds as defined may be kept as pets in

conservation, residential estates and all residential zoning

districts, provided that a conditional use permit shall be

required to keep such animals. Requirements for keeping

of pigs as pets only Vietnamese Potbellied Pig referred to
