The Ag Container Recycling Council

(ACRC) • What: A non-profit corporation formed in 1992 to

facilitate and manage the collection and recycling of one-way HDPE crop protection and other specialty pest control containers in a cost effective manner.

• Funding: Voluntary. Paid for by agricultural crop

protection product manufacturers and distributors who sell their products in HDPE containers

ACRC Mission Statement

The mission of the ACRC is to facilitate the collection and recycling of one-way rigid HDPE plastic agricultural crop protection, specialty pest control, micronutrient/fertilizer, and/or adjuvant product containers through member support of cost effective programs that foster public health and safety, environmental protection, resource conservation and end user convenience.

• Funded by member dues based on annual survey: – Companies report volume of HDPE plastic containers

put into relevant product lines. – Individual company sales data only known by ACRC

staff

How Much Is Being Recycled?

• 165,000,000 lbs recycled since 1992. Recentlythe program has been recycling an average of10,000,000 lbs annually.

• 2015 rate = 32% of material– 32.5 million lbs HDPE put into the market– 10.4 million lbs HDPE recycled

• US Ag Retailer participation rate = 20%Canada Ag Retailer = 80%+

Pesticide Container Recyling How To:

• What: Pesticide containers (HDPE) from 2.5gallon – 55 gallon drums

• Preparation: MUST be triple or pressurerinsed

• Parts and caps removed.• Label & booklet removed• Store in oversize plastic bags or tie together

with twine. Keep clean & dry.
