Dear Neighbor:I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying a safe summer. As
we near the end of the 2009-10 legislative session, I would like to takemoment to update you on developments in Harrisburg and here at
home.For more than 30 years, it has been my privilege to represent your
interests in Harrisburg. I have worked diligently to listen to yourconcerns and to carry those concerns with me when I vote on the
ouse floor.In this latest edition of my newsletter, you will find important infor-
mation about the state budget, my efforts to help local communityorganizations and to bring jobs to the area, and my legislation to combatthe crime problem plaguing our neighborhoods.

Vehicle Import Business WillBring Jobs to Philadelphia Waterfront
n a move that will bring economic expansion and much-needed job opportunities to the Port ofPhiladelphia, I was pleased to work with Gov. Ed Rendell to bring a large vehicle import business toPhiladelphias waterfront.
he Philadelphia Regional Port Authority has entered into a lease with Philly Ro-Ro Partners to bring
a car-finishing import business to Pier 98 Annex on the Philadelphia waterfront. Auto manufacturersHyundai and Kia anticipate 150,000 vehicles per year will be imported through the Port of Philadelphiato start.
he facility will create 415 direct and indirect port-related jobs, including 276 full-time jobs forlongshoremen and Teamsters, who will unload the vehicles and prepare them for sale.

ConditionsThe Pennsylvania Department of Trans-
portations (PennDOT) toll-free road main-
tenance hotline is available for residents
to report potholes and other problems
with state roads.
Based on the callers phone number,
calls are directed to local PennDOT
maintenance facilities where problems
can receive the appropriate attention.
In addition to reporting potholes, mo-
torists may also report missing highway
signs, shoulder drop-offs, roadway
washouts and other potential haz-
ards.
Once notified, PennDOT will ac-
tively work to address pothole and
other roadway concerns when the
weather permits. Motorists can
also log on to 511pa.com or call511 from any phone to check
traffic conditions on major road-
ways before traveling.

Program Provides Rebatesfor New Home Heating
EquipmentA new rebate program is designed to help con-
sumers save money and energy by making it moreaffordable to upgrade a home heating system.
The Pennsylvania Home Heating EquipmentRebate Program could aid as many as 33,000ouseholds with the purchase of Energy Star-ated, non-electric residential hot water heaters,urnaces and boilers. The $11 million program iseing funded through the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act.Consumers can apply for and receive their re-ates by meeting each of the following require-ents:1. Reserve a rebate by completing an online
application. Residents without Internet accessmay call 877-592-2061 to make a reservation.
2. Purchase and have a contractor install aqualifying product. Purchases made beforeApril 21will not be eligible.
3. Submit the completed rebate applicationwithin 30 days of the reservation date.
The company selected to manage the program,Resource Solutions Group, will mail rebate checksdirectly to consumers.
