Floral art incorporates the design elements of line, form, space, texture and colour, and the design principles of balance, proportion, rhythm, contrast, harmony and unity. At the Perth Royal Show, participating entrants will compete to create exciting pieces, which will appeal to all ages.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR EXHIBITORS It is that time of year again to begin thinking about entering the Perth Royal Flower Show. Whether you are a seasoned Exhibitor or new to the competition, please read on before completing your entry, as once again changes have been implemented. • Read through the schedule and highlight the classes of

interest to you. • Check the class criteria carefully. NOTE: A limit of one

(1) entry per class. • If you have any questions regarding this schedule,

please contact the Competition and Event Coordinator who will assist you with your enquiry.

GENERAL SHOW REGULATIONS The Society’s General Show Regulations and Section

Conditions regulate the conduct of the Show. Upon acceptance of an entry the Exhibitor is irrevocably contracted to be bound by those General Show Regulations and Section Conditions. A copy of the Society’s General Show Regulations may be

obtained on application or downloaded from the website http://perthroyalshow.com.au/general-regulations/. An Exhibitor who breaches any General Show Regulation or Section Condition may be disqualified, or suspended for any period, fined or otherwise penalised. WITHDRAWAL OF EXHIBIT BY THE SOCIETY The Society may, at its sole discretion, withdraw, reject or disqualify an exhibit. Refer to the Society’s General Show

Regulation 3.18. PRIZE MONEY RASWA has a policy whereby all prize money is paid by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). Your banking details will be kept secure and can only be used by RASWA to credit your bank account. Please complete your account details on the application for entry even if you have provided them previously. In accordance with the rules of the competition, failure to provide your bank details will mean that any prize money you earn will be forfeited and retained by RASWA. Prize money as stated in the schedule does not include GST. The prize money which the Society pays to successful Exhibitors ("you") depends on the information that you provide to the Society. If you confirm that you are GST registered and provide your Australian Business Number (ABN) the Society will pay the appropriate prize money plus 10% GST. The Society will provide to you a Recipient Created Tax Invoice (RCTI) within 28 days of the day you were successful at your event, detailing the GST which you will need to submit to the Australian Tax Office (ATO). If any adjustments need to be made, the Society will issue an adjustment note to you within 28 days of the adjustment. Upon entry into the competition and completion and signing of the application form, this form will become a RCTI agreement as required under (Goods and Services Tax) Act 1999. Furthermore, you acknowledge your agreement to the following: • The Society will issue you a tax invoice in respect of the

successful exhibit; • You are requested not to issue a tax invoice to the

Society in respect to prize money received; • It will be necessary for you to notify the Society if you

cease to be registered for GST; and • The Society will notify you if it ceases to satisfy any of

the requirements of the determinations.

If you provide your ABN but are not registered for GST, the Society will pay the prize money as detailed in the prize schedule. If you are a business Exhibitor and do not provide your ABN to the Society, 47% tax will be deducted from your prize money under the ATO PAYG provisions. If you confirm that you are entering as part of a private recreational pursuit or hobby, the Society will pay the prize money as detailed in the prize schedule. INSURANCE As the Society accepts no liability for loss or damage occasioned to or by any property exhibited, it is recommended that the Exhibitor arranges appropriate "all risks" insurance for their artwork. AWARDS The Society will not be responsible for awards or prize money not received by Exhibitors after 31 December 2019. If you have not received your award(s) or prize money by 30 November 2019 please contact RASWA on (08) 6263 3100. SOCIETY’S LIABILITY The attention of Exhibitors is drawn to General Show Regulation 17, with reference to the Society’s Liability. SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY All personnel engaged by the Royal Agricultural Society of WA (RASWA) are bound by RASWA’s Social Media Policy

(https://www.perthroyalshow.com.au/social-media-policy/) and are required to use social media in a positive manner and with the best intentions. • Whether posting on a public or private page or group,

please present in a suitable and respectful manner of RASWA, Perth Royal Show and the Claremont Showground.

• Be mindful of posting/discussing subjects that may inflame someone’s emotions. Please show respect for

others’ opinions and be courteous always. • Do not post personal information about yourself or

others, confidential or non-public information, offensive or negative comments.

If anyone is found to have made comments that are deemed unreasonable or derogatory, action will be taken by RASWA to ensure all parties are protected, and inappropriate use reprimanded. PROMOTION No advertising or promotion on behalf of commercial business will be permitted on the Showground without the prior written consent of the Society’s Chief Executive Officer.

PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT The information provided by the Exhibitor in the application for entry is collected and used by the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia (RASWA) to organise and conduct competitions at the Show. We may publish details such as your name, address and exhibit details in any RASWA publication or communication. Such information may also be made available to, and published by, the media. We will not disclose your information without your consent for any other purpose unless required or authorised by law. You may request access to your personal information and, if necessary, request that our records of that information be corrected by writing to the Chief Executive Officer at the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia, PO Box 135, Claremont WA 6910.

SECTION CONDITIONS 1. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1.1 Exhibitors must submit exhibits in accordance with the

terms and conditions as set out in this document. 1.2 Exhibitors are restricted to one (1) entry per class,

however, can enter multiple classes. 1.3 Each entry is to be exhibited by one (1) person only. 2. STAGING 2.1 All exhibits will be displayed in a 2m (W) x 2m (L) x

2.4m (H) area, with no restrictions on height, unless otherwise stated.

2.2 All exhibits must be stable, self-supporting and staged

by the Exhibitor. There will be no onsite props or facilities provided. No liability will be accepted for unstable exhibits.

2.3 All exhibits must comprise of 60% Horticultural

material, with or without accessories, and must be contained within the space specified. Exceeding this space will lead to the Exhibitor being penalised.

2.4 Artificial flowers and foliage are NOT permitted,

unless otherwise stated. 2.5 Embellishments are permitted in all classes, unless

otherwise stated. 2.6 Competition Program:

All persons assisting an Exhibitor with delivering of props and display materials MUST LEAVE THE PAVILION IMMEDIATELY AFTER DELIVERY HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

2.7 An 'Information Card' for each exhibit will be sent to

the Exhibitor and MUST be completed. The card must list a description of materials used in the exhibit and is to be handed to the Steward when the exhibit is delivered. Exhibitors will be allowed to display one (1) business card, not exceeding 10cm x 6cm, on their display.

2.8 Maintaining and dismantling exhibits is the responsibility of the Exhibitor. Consider the watering aspect when placing fresh flowers at the top of a tall display. Any exhibit which deteriorates, may be removed. Dismantling and removal of exhibits will occur on Monday 7 October 2019 between 8.00am and 5.00pm.

2.9 WORKING ACCESS DELIVERY PASS: Exhibitors

will be given a single-entry and delivery pass to access the Showground on Tuesday 1 October 2019 to maintain their display. This pass will allow Exhibitors to enter through Gate 5 between 6.00am and 8.45am. Please show the gate staff your parking and entry pass to enter. Gate Staff will direct all Exhibitors to Private Road parking. Both passes are non-transferable.

2.10 PAINT SPRAYING: Please see the Stewards for

the designated area for spraying. NO SPRAYING IN THE PAVILION.

3. JUDGING 3.1 Judging will be carried out by a panel of judges and

commences promptly at 12.30pm on Friday 27 September 2019. Each Exhibitor will have from 7.30am to 11.30am to complete their display. If entering multiple classes, the Exhibitor must advise the Chief Steward of completion of their first display before starting to construct their additional display(s). Exhibitors must advise the Chief Steward of completion of their display and are strictly NOT ALLOWED to revisit their display once complete.

3.2 Each class will be judged separately and awarded a

winner and a runner-up (if applicable). 3.3 Judges will be awarding points for, but not limited to,

choice of materials, colour, harmony, structure and appropriateness. Special credit will be given for technical application, sympathetic constructions and preparation for longevity.

prescribed specifications of the schedule. 3.6 The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence

shall be entered into. 3.7 Judges' are requested to withhold awards where

entries are not of a sufficiently high standard. 3.8 Judges will provide feedback to all Exhibitors in

Student classes at the conclusion of judging. 4. AWARDS PRESENTATION 4.1 The Awards Presentation will be held on the first day

of the Show (Saturday 28 September 2019) at 9.00am, with formal invitations to be distributed after the close of entries. RSVP is essential.

4.2 Exhibitors will receive one (1) single-entry pass for the

Awards Presentation.

ADDITIONAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

• Each Exhibitor will have 4 hours to construct their

display(s). If entering multiple classes, the Exhibitor must advise the Chief Steward of completion before starting to construct other classes. Exhibitors are strictly NOT ALLOWED to revisit their display once complete.

• Height restriction is 2m. • Exhibits will be on display for eight (8) days, so your

choice and use of material MUST be taken into consideration and be appropriate for this duration.

• Exhibitors are responsible for bringing all materials and work kit to complete their design.

• Accessories and embellishments can be premade, but no horticultural material can be placed in the design prior to the start of the competition at 7.30am on Friday 27 September 2019, unless otherwise stated.

• Normal post-harvest treatment of plant material is allowed.

• No use of power tools is allowed. Battery operated drills and glue guns are permitted.

• RASWA will provide one (1) small table and one (1) chair provided for Exhibitors to work on.

• Nothing can be attached to the backing boards/walls of your area.

• No aerosol spray paint or other aerosol products are allowed to be used in the pavilion.

THE SHOP WINDOW The Shop Window Floral Design competition is an open competition giving florist, designers, stylist, floristry students and flower enthusiasts the opportunity to create a unique floral “Shop Window” display at the Show.

Class 1 Windows of the World THEME: Windows of the World • 4m (W) x 3m (L) x 2.4m (H) Shop Window

space per competitor. • White walls. • Two (2) side and one (1) rear wall 2.4m in

height. • Concrete flooring. • Signage provided for each competitor. First: $600, Sash, Certificate; Second: $300, Sash, Certificate; Third: $150, Sash, Certificate

OPEN Class 2 Metal Display

THEME: Metal Open to principal floral designers and seniors operating or working at a florist shop. Using the textural element metal, you are invited to create a display of fresh flowers and foliages for a scrapmetal yard. The display is to feature metal elements and will be displayed on a 1m x 1m white board. Your display can incorporate fresh flowers, accessories and props, however 60% fresh horticulture material must predominate. Fresh, dried or artificially coloured horticultural material can be used and must not exceed 20% of the finished display. Artificial flowers and foliage are NOT permitted. Winner: $1,000, Sash, Certificate; Runner Up: $500, Sash, Certificate

FLORAL ART Class 3 Paper Floral Wall

THEME: Paper Open to everyone except principal floral designers and seniors operating or working at a florist shop and floristry student with less than three (3) years' experience in the floristry industry.

Using the white mesh frame provided you are invited to use your imagination to create a floral wall hanging that features a paper element. You will be provided with a 1.5m (L) x 2m (H) white mesh frame within a 4m (W) x 3m (L) x 2.4m (H) space. Your display can incorporate fresh flowers, accessories and props, however 60% fresh horticulture material must predominate. Fresh, dried or artificially coloured horticultural material can be used and must not exceed 20% of the finished display. Artificial flowers and foliage are NOT permitted. Rules of Competition are in accordance with the Australian Floral Art Association (AFAA) handbook. Please contact [email protected] if you need any further information regarding the rules. Winner: $400, Sash, Certificate; Runner Up: $200, Sash, Certificate

FLORISTRY STUDENTS Class 4 Fabric Bouquet

THEME: Fabric Floristry Students with less than three (3) years' experience in the floristry industry and/or currently studying floristry through a training school, academy or training facility. You are invited to use your imagination to create a handtied bouquet that must incorporate a fabric textural element. THEME: Glass Open to all exhibitors who wish to display their skills. Using the textural element glass, you are invited to design a high bar table display that will be used at the opening of a landscape centre. You will be provided with a white Hairpin Bar Table within a 4m (W) x 3m (L) x 2.4m (H) space, which your display must sit on. Overhang will be accepted. Table Measurements: 0.7m (L) x 0.7m (W) x 1.1m (H). Your display can incorporate accessories and props, however 60% fresh horticultural foliage must predominate. Fresh, dried or artificially coloured horticultural material can be used and must not exceed 20% of the finished display. Artificial flowers and foliage are NOT permitted. NOVICE Class 6 Plastic

THEME: Plastic This class is open only to Exhibitors who have not won a first prize in a similar class at a previous Perth Royal Show. Using the element of plastic, you are invited to use your imagination to create a low table arrangement for an outdoor summer wedding. You will be provided with a 4m (W) x 3m (L) x 2.4m (H) space. The arrangement is to be placed in the middle of a round table with a white linen tablecloth provided by RASWA. Table Measurements: 1.8m (D). Your display can incorporate fresh flowers, accessories and props, however 60% fresh horticulture material must predominate. Fresh, dried or artificially coloured horticultural material can be used and must not exceed 20% of the finished display. Artificial flowers and foliage are NOT permitted. CHILDREN Class 7 Paper

THEME: Paper Exhibitors are to provide their own flowers, and arrangements to be completed in all detail by the Exhibitor in the pavilion on the day of judging, unaccompanied by an adult, under the supervision of the Chief Steward. This rule will be rigidly enforced. Open to children 10 years of age and above and 16 years of age and under as at the first day of Show. Using a mixture of paper made flowers and foliages as well as horticultural materials you are invited to create an arrangement of mixed fresh and paper made flowers and foliages. The paper flowers and foliages are to be handmade by the children and can be premade before the commencement of the competition. You will be provided with a 4m (W) x 3m (L) x 2.4m (H) space. Your display can incorporate fresh flowers, accessories and props, however 60% fresh horticulture material must predominate. Fresh, dried or artificially coloured horticultural material can be used and must not exceed 20% of the finished display. Artificial papers flowers and foliages ARE permitted. GENERAL SHOW REGULATION 17. LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY(Extract from the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia

General Show Regulations - Revised 22 August 2007)

17.1 Exhibitor Accepts The lodgement of an Application of Entry form shall be

deemed to be acknowledgment by the Exhibitor of his or her agreement that the Society shall be under no liability for:

17.1.1 No Liability for animals or birds The loss, injury or death of any animal or birds exhibited,

or any other animal or birds, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever.

17.1.2 No Liability for property Any loss or damage occasioned to or by any property

exhibited, or any other property, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever.

17.1.3 No Liability for injury to, or the death of, Exhibitor or general public

Any injury to, or the death of, the Exhibitor or any other Exhibitor, or any member of the general public, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever.

17.1.4 No Liability for contracting any disease or sufferinganimals or birds

AnylossordamagesufferedbyanyExhibitorasaresultof any disease contracted or suffered by any animals(including birds) after, or as a consequence of any animal Exhibits, or their progeny, being brought onto the Showground.

17.2 No Liability for Livestock Sales The Society and the Auctioneers of Royal Show Livestock

Sales shall be under no liability to any Owner or purchaser of livestock (whether exhibited or otherwise) entered for sale or sold at any Royal Show Livestock Sale.

17.2.1 No Liability for livestock auctioned In respect of any loss or injury to such livestock; whether

such loss or injury be caused by or be attributable to, the negligenceoftheAuctioneersspecifiedintheRegulationsrelating to the Royal Show Livestock Sales or to the Society or any of its servants or Agents.

17.2.2 No Liability for other livestock, property, Exhibitor or general public

For any injury or damage occasioned to any other livestock or property, or to any other Exhibitor, or to the general public, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence oftheAuctioneersspecifiedintheRegulationsrelatingtothe Royal Show Livestock Sales or to the Society or any of its servants or Agents.

17.2.3 NoLiabilityforconsequentiallossandlossofprofits For any loss or damage (including without limitation

consequential loss and loss of profits) suffered by anyOwner or purchaser of livestock as a result of any disease contracted or suffered by any livestock after, or as aconsequence of any livestock being entered for sale, at any Royal Show Livestock Sale.

17.3 Exhibits Sold Privately Where any animal exhibited, or any other exhibit, is sold

privately during the time of the Royal Show the vendor thereof shall indemnify the Society against all liability to the purchaser in respect of any loss, injury, disease or damage to such animal or other exhibit, whether such loss, injury, disease or damage be caused by or attributable to the negligence of the Society or any of its servants or Agents.

17.4 Accidents and Incidents Competitors, Exhibitors and Attendants must report

promptly to the Society all accidents and incidents causing or likely to cause injury to persons or damage to property.

17.5 Trade Practices Act To the extent that any matter relating to entry or remaining

upon the Showground relates to the supply of goods or services by the Society within the meaning of s. 68A of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cwlth), the Society’s liability is limited as follows:

(a) in case of goods, the replacement, repair or payment for the replacement or repair of the goods.

(b) in the case of services, the re-supply of the services or the cost of the re-supply of the services.

It shall be in the Society’s absolute discretion as to whether it replaces, repairs or pays for replacement or repair of goods. It shall be further in the Society’s discretion as to whether it re-supplies or pays the cost of re-supply or services.

17.6 Indemnity To the maximum extent permitted by law, each Competitor

and Exhibitor must indemnify and keep indemnified theSocietyanditsofficers,employees,membersandAgentsfrom and, against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, expenses and liabilities including without limitation,consequential lossandlossofprofitsforwhichthe Society is or may be become liable in respect of or arising from:

(a) loss, damage or injury to any person in connection with the exhibit or the relevant event;

(b) without limiting sub-regulation (a) loss, damage or injury to any other exhibit or Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, Agents, or to the property of the Society, or its members, or to the general public, caused or contributed to or by any act or omission of an exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents; and

(c) without limiting sub-regulation (a) loss, damage or injury to the exhibit, or the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, or Agents caused or contributed by an act or omission of an exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the transportation, feeding or housing of an exhibit of the Exhibitor.

17.7 Removal of Exhibit Without prejudice to any other provision of these

Regulations, where the Society, its officers, employees,members or Agents remove an exhibit, or causes an exhibit to be removed from the Showground, the exhibit is removed or caused to be removed entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor. The person or persons removing the exhibit will be deemed to be the Agent of the Exhibitor, and his or her acts and omissions will be deemed to be the acts and omissions of the Exhibitor.

ANIMAL / LIVESTOCK OWNERS / EXHIBITORSPUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia (“RASWA”) has a Public Liability insurance policy in the interests of Owners / Exhibitors of Animals / Livestock exhibits entering competitions in accordance with RASWA’s General Show Regulations and Section Conditions.

INSURED PARTIES:

Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s) of Animal(s) / Livestock exhibit(s) upon payment of entry fee(s) and provided such Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s) comply with all requirements herein together with RASWA’s General Show Regulations and Section Conditions. Failure to comply may render the Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s) personally liable for any claims that may arise as a result of any incident to which they may have contributed.

PERIOD OF INSURANCE:

For the period the Animal(s) / Livestock exhibit(s) are on RASWA’s Claremont Showground, Claremont, Western Australia for the purposes of the 2019 Perth Royal Show.

INSURED ACTIVITIES:

All activities undertaken whilst within the confines of RASWA’s Claremont Showground, Claremont, Western Australia consistent with the (Business) Insured Parties’ Animal(s) / Livestock exhibit(s) activity.

DESCRIPTION OF COVER:

Insurance in respect of the Insured Parties’ liability to pay costs and compensation in respect of loss of, or damage to, third party property and death of, or injury to, third party persons caused by, and arising out of, the insured parties’ activities, all subject to RASWA’s policy terms, conditions, exclusions and warranties etc.

AMOUNT OF COVER:

$150,000,000 any one (1) occurrence.

Excess: $10,000 each and every claim.

It should be noted that the payment of the excess in the event of a claim is the responsibility of the Owner(s) /Exhibitor(s).

JURISDICTION:

Australia.

TERRITORY:

The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia’s Showground, Claremont, Western Australia.

INSURER:

Lloyds of London and others as listed on policies held by RASWA.

IMPORTANT CONDITIONS:

The Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s) must:

1. Exercise reasonable care to maintain all premises, fittings and plant in sound condition;

2. Take all reasonable precautions to prevent injury and damage to persons and property;

3. Promptly comply with any request made by the Royal Agricultural Society of WA which it may, at its sole discretion, require of Owner(s) / Exhibitor(s);

4. Give immediate notice:

a) of an incident that may give rise to a claim; or b) if in receipt of advice of a claim;

5. Not make any admission, offer or promise in connection with any claim and must not at any time admit liability;

6. Make themselves aware of, and comply with, the policy conditions including duty of disclosure.

NOTE:

1. All enquiries are to be referred to RASWA.

2. THIS INSURANCE ONLY APPLIES TO OWNER(S) / EXHIBITOR(S) ENTERING COMPETITIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH RASWA’S GENERAL SHOW REGULATIONS AND SECTION CONDITIONS.
