Interschool Swimming Carnival

On Thursday 16th March 25 students from Year 4 to 6 went to the Interschool Swimming Carnival at the South West Sport Centre. Seven schools from the Bunbury area attended the carnival. All students competed very strongly during the day with the Year 5 girls a stand out, winning all four divisions of freestyle and the girls 4 x 50m freestyle relay. Adam Road came 4th overall and 2nd in the handicap shield.

DID YOU KNOW?

What can we do? Reduce: Choose not to use disposable plastic water bottles. When heading out, take a bottle from home and refill it as you need. Aluminium bottles are your best choice, as they can be recycled over and over and over again! Re-use: When you need to buy a disposable water bottle, re-use it as many times as you can! Recycle: When you eventually throw out your plastic water bottle, make sure it ends up in your yellow top recycling bin Recover: If you see a friend throwing away a plastic water bottle, talk to them about reducing, re-using and recycling Together we can watch our waste and help create a sustainable future for the South West.

ADAM ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL IS

A RECYCLING SCHOOL

As part of the recycling program, Room 11 collects and rehomes the shredded paper from the office and classroom shredders. It makes great bedding for small creatures such as rabbits, guinea pigs and rats. Once it is used, it can be put into the green waste bin to be collected and composted. We sometimes have a surplus of shredded paper and would love to find a home for it. If you have little creatures at home that would love a comfortable bed of shredded paper, call into Room 11 and grab a bag.

HELP NEEDEDThe English Committee have purchased many new reading books and are calling on volunteers to help cover them. If you can spare 10 minutes before school each day or any time during the day, please let the front office know. All materials are supplied and a demonstration can be given. Unfortunately the books can not leave school premises.

Mrs Taylor has all materials and books etc. and can set up any helpers in the library.

Thank you to all the families that have generously donated books to the library in celebration of the school’s 50th Anniversary.

The books will soon be ready for loan and notes will be sent to your child/children’s classrooms to let them know they can come to the library to be the first to borrow.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS HISTORY BOOKIf you would like to purchase a copy of the Adam Road Primary School “Celebrating 50 Years” history book, please register your interest with the office.

Congratulations to Laura Sciesinski, Miet Vermeiren, Amy King, Veronica Martin and Chris Green who have been elected as parent representatives to our school board. They will join staff representatives Danielle Smith, Felicity McGeoch, Fiona Gaetke and myself to form the school board. The board will meet for the first time on Monday 3rd April at 7.00pm in the Conference Room.

We have welcomed five guests from Japan into our school this week, four students and one teacher. All are being hosted by families from our school community and will be attending Adam Road this week. This provides a wonderful opportunity for a very

valuable cultural exchange for both our students and the Japanese students. Hopefully we can continue this exchange in future years.I am looking forward to attending our annual Year 6 School Camp next week at Camp Mornington. Having attended this camp for the last two years I am confident this will be another very successful and enjoyable experience for all who attend. The nature of the activities challenges each participant to strive to achieve what they may not have thought possible and emphasizes the need to work together to achieve the best results.I hope all families enjoy the upcoming school holidays and perhaps set some challenges of their own.GUY ASSER PRINCIPAL
