PERSUASIVE WRITING
The persuasive essay, also known as theargument essay, utilizes logic and reason toshow that one idea is more legitimate thananother idea. It attempts to persuade areader to adopt a certain point of view or totake a particular action. The argument must
always use sound reasoning and solidevidence by stating facts, giving logicalreasons, and using examples.

Things to Remember:
Explain what they person reading it will get out of it. Appeal to their feelings and emotions. Make them
feel sympathy, empathy or guilty. But dont whinetoo much!
Pressure them ! Tell them what will happen if youdont get what you are asking for. Make it sound asthough doing what you want is crucial.
Make use of three-part lists three reasons, threebenefits, three emotive words.
Use strong adjectives (best, most important) andverbs (will, need, must, should, could).
Show, where appropriate, that you can employformal language.
