REASONS FOR PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
European levelEuropean Commission directive 2001/77EC – which encourages use of alternative energy sources including wind energy
National levelNational Sustainable development strategy and National energy Strategy – foresees that 7 % of energy must be produced from alternative energy sources
Land use levelLimited possibilities for wind farm building in land, high prices of land
Economic levelPossibilities of investments to wind energy

Objectives
To promote the off shore wind energy development in terms of:
• identification of current and planned marine use;
• spotlighting the possible conflicts;
• offering the alternative interconnection scenarios;
• evaluating of economical feasibility;
• preparing the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment;
• setting the guidelines for the application for construction permits;
The main goal of the project is to create conditions for effective development of wind energy
production in the Baltic Sea coastal zones of three neighbouring countries: Lithuania, Russia and Poland.

We started our project more as marine territory planning, but now we have results for potential investments and politicians.
Next step for development and continuing this activity – to solve energetic problems.
