About the Centre

Centre for Bioinformatics of Pondicherry University is

a national facility funded by the Department of

Biotechnology, Department of Information Technology

and University Grants Commission. The Centre offers

M.Sc. course and Ph.D., in Bioinformatics. The Centre

has received Centre of Excellence for Teaching and

Research in Bioinformatics by the Department of

Information Technology, Govt. of India. Under this

programme the centre is offering add-on courses in

various areas of Bioinformatics for personnel from

industry and academia and is awarded with PG

Diploma degree in Bioinformatics. From 2010, the

Centre is offering a M.Sc. Course in Computational

Biology with full support from Department of

Biotechnology, Govt. of India as a collaborative

network programme. The Centre has access to several

online and offline e-journals. A modern computational

facility is available round-the-clock to all the students

of Bioinformatics. The Centre has conducted more than

37 Seminars/ Workshops during the past years.

About the Seminar

The 2-day National level Seminar cum Workshop

sponsored by Pondicherry University, India will

focus on “Perspectives of Chemoinformatics for

Drug Discovery”, which involves diversified topics

in bioinformatics and chemoinformatics. Experts in

various fields will deliver lectures and conduct

demonstrations followed by hands-on training. The

seminar will be very useful to the faculty and

students interested in drug designing and its

extension to pre-clinical studies, which are of

immense scope in pharmaceutical industries.

Who can apply?

Scientists, Teachers, Faculty and research scholars working

in various areas of Life Sciences who intend to apply

Chemoinformatics approaches in their research or wish to

contribute to the developments of this field itself.

1. Students - Rs. 1500/-

2. Faculty / Staff - Rs. 2000/-

3. Industry - Rs. 2500/-

The registration fee includes seminar material and working

lunch on all the days of the seminar.

Total number of participants: 30. (Participants will be

selected on first come first serve bases and no spot

registration will be available).

Accommodation for the participants: Limited number

(on payment basis may be arranged on advance request)

Pondicherry University, Pondicherry.

Phase 1: Applicants are requested to register online with

brief outline of how this seminar will be useful to their

research work at www.bicpu.edu.in with the Demand Draft

Number.

Phase 2: Participants should send the Demand Draft to the

Mailing Address given so as to reach us on or before

February 4, 2013. Selection will be confirmed on first come

first served basis.
