PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AT BARISTA COFFEE SHOP :

Barista currently has espresso bars across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Middle East. It was established in February 2000 by the Barista Coffee Company Limited. A 34.3% equity stake was sold to Tata Coffee in 2001.C Sivasankaran bought the remaining 65 per cent in Barista from the Amit Judge-controlled Turner Morrison in 2004, and his Sterling Group also bought out Tata Coffee's stake later. In 2007, the Sterling Group sold Barista to Lavazza.Barista Lavazza is currently owned by Lavazza.[7] The coffee is supplied by the Indian roaster Fresh and Honest, headquartered in Chennai, which is also owned by Lavazza. As of 2009, the chain has 200 stores in India, with an estimated annual revenue of 2 billion.

Barista was the fastest brand to make it on the list of super brands and is ranked among the top 50 phenomena that changed India.

Employees of barista coffee shop are known as BARISTAS.They generally operate a commercial espresso machine. An espresso machine is a device that brews coffee by forcing pressurized water near boiling point through a "puck" of ground coffee and a filter in order to produce a thick, concentrated coffee called espresso that is the base for many traditional Italian coffee beverages. Their role is preparing and pulling the shot; the degree to which this is automated or done manually varies significantly, ranging from push-button operation to an involved manual process. Espresso is a notoriously finicky beverage and good manual espresso making is considered a skilled task

The barista usually has been trained to operate the machine and to prepare the coffee based on the guidelines of the roaster or shop owner, while more experienced baristas may have discretion to vary preparation or experiment; a seasoned veteran will need little training beyond specifics of equipment and beans used and the shop's preferences.
