PERSONAL COLLECTION DRAWING

Think carefully about your belongings, however meaningful or trivial they may seem, and consider what they say about you, your personality, and your life. Arrange a still life consisting of similar objects that embodies some aspect of who you are. Make sure to locate your still life in a place at home where it can be set up for a few weeks without being disturbed!

What to include in your drawing:★ Repetition of similar objects, carefully placed in order to move your eye around the drawing★ Dramatic Lighting to enhance contrast (wide range of values) - use a lamp!★ Foreground, Middle Ground, and Background (Fill the ENTIRE page with what you see)

Materials:White drawing paper (see size requirements below) & graphite pencil (can use any hardness, but you will probably need to include 4B or 6B for dark values.)

DUE DATES:

9/17 - Thumbnail Sketches: Minimum of three thumbnail sketches in your sketchbook showing various compositions (arrangements/views of your collection)

9/25 - In-Progress Check & Discussion: Minimum of 3 hours completed thus far on your final drawing - MUST BRING IN YOUR DRAWING!!!

10/4 - Final, completed drawing AND rubric AND Artist Statement / reflection.

You have used sighting to accurately represent proportions, angles, spacing, etc. You controlled your pencil by appropriately applying pressure in areas that need to be darker, and using your eraser to lighten areas of brighter value.

You have completed a drawing on the designated size paper for your placement (GT or reg) that expresses a collection of personal/meaningful objects.
