Dear Parent and Student, We are very pleased to inform you about our exciting new Personal Challenge Days that will take place on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July 2013. On these days all Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of enjoyable sporting, creative, outdoor and educational activities based in school and off site as the Academy timetable is collapsed for two days. We have worked hard to build on the successes of our Theme Days and Academy Show in previous years to make sure that we offer a wide range of events and activities which challenge, stimulate and educate our students whilst providing excellent value for money. As you will see from the programme on offer, we are confident that there are activities to suit all ages, interests and budgets. The hope is that all students will have the opportunity to participate in an activity or experience that is new to them on these days. The activities are divided into 3 distinct groups within the booklet – residential trips, day trips to various venues and those activities which are based in school. Please take time to read through the range of activities on offer. Students will need to complete the options form at the back of this booklet (page 27) and select the activities that they would like to participate in for the two days. Some activities are a 2 day programme whereas others are 1 day programmes and students will therefore need to select 2 different one day programmes if this is their preference to cover both days. It is essential that the options form is returned to your child‟s tutor as soon as possible as all trips are subject to maximum numbers which cannot be exceeded and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. As a result students are asked to identify a reserve option, as outlined on the options form in case some activities are oversubscribed. For some activities you may be asked for a small non-refundable deposit to secure your place at the time of booking. Where required this is outlined in the activity details within this booklet. All option forms should be returned as soon as possible but by Friday 15th February at the latest. Please note that all payment for activities MUST be made by cheque, with cheques made payable to “de Ferrers”. No cash can be accepted for payment towards the Personal Challenge Days. If you have any questions or queries regarding the Personal Challenge Days please do not hesitate to contact me at The Academy. I look forward to the Personal Challenge Days offering an exciting and enjoyable programme for all students. Many thanks, Mr D. Lovell Associate Assistant Principal
