We understand the value of people; that a company’s value originates from their employees and the decisions they make. When a company takes the decision to purchase Zurich Group Personal Accident & Business Travel insurance, they discover the benefits and the recognition that comes from choosing dependable cover for their company’s most important asset; their colleagues.

Our Group Personal Accident insurance is also flexible – the insured company can decide whether they would like to use the lump sum benefit for covering their business costs e.g. recruitment costs; or to pass the benefit onto the employee concerned. It’s also a smart purchase because it’s tax-efficient – under current legislation, the company insured by our Group Personal Accident insurance will not pay any tax on the lump sums paid out by the policy, thus offering a valuable benefit at a relatively low cost.

We know a company’s time is money. That’s why we ensure our Group Personal Accident insurance is as simple as possible to purchase. There’s no requirement for medicals; cover is worldwide and unlike some policies, we do not exclude many hazardous sports and hobbies.

Greater than the sum of its Parts

As the world changes, emerging markets, like Brazil, Russia, India and China (the so-called ‘BRIC economies’) are becoming increasingly influential in today’s globalized economy. Companies from established markets are reacting to this with expansion and development, which means that their employees are travelling more than ever and, often, to less developed countries.

At the same time, we live in a more networked world than ever before where it is possible to share media instantly, and to be a ‘citizen journalist’ with broadcasting and publishing open-to-all. People are becoming more risk aware as a consequence and companies are under pressure to give their employees as much protection as possible.

With health and safety legislation increasing and the introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter Act, company directors and officers now have a new personal responsibility for their employees.

By purchasing Business Travel insurance to respond to any emergencies, companies demonstrate to all their preparedness to be a responsible employer that has taken precautions to ensure staff are taken care of while abroad on business.

Personal accident

Employees are the lifeblood of any business. If they are not able to work then the business must find alternatives, such as temporary staff, training new staff, or paying overtime to bridge the gap, all of which involve significant additional costs.

Our Personal Accident insurance provides protection in the event of accidental bodily injury and can provide cover for a range of activities to suit business needs.

The cover is designed to pay out if an employee is severely injured or dies in an accident. Policyholders receive a tax-free (under current legislation) lump sum if they are involved in an accident resulting in the loss of one or more limbs, one or both eyes, the loss of use of any of the above or some other form of permanent disability. Depending on the type of disability, the payments may be made weekly for one or two years, or as a lump sum.

The policy can enhance any employee benefit scheme; or any claim payment could be used to cover the cost of recruiting a temporary or permanent replacement, ensuring minimal disruption to the business. The policy can also assist in managing liability claims as liability does not need to be determined under the policy before we make a payment.

crisis Pr assistanceDealing with the media and the families of injured employees can be very challenging. This service provides internal and external stakeholder communications support, brand rehabilitation and recovery services or any other appropriate PR support to help manage a PR crisis, which can be caused by an incident involving the death or permanent disabling injuries of one or more of a company’s employees. This support is provided via contacting Zurich assistance via telephone. The amount Zurich will pay in respect of an incident is limited, and detailed within policyholders’ documentation.

Medical Second OpinionVia Zurich Assistance, we have an arrangement for employees to gain access to a medical second opinion on any critical illness they are suffering. This illness must be serious in nature and the patient must already be under the care of a medical consultant who has recommended a course of treatment, medication and/or surgery. The second opinion service is arranged via a partner who has a network of medical professionals who will review the insured’s person’s results and medical files and compile a written report in an easy-to-comprehend format for the patient’s consideration. The patient is under no obligation to act on their report and we provide this service for information purposes only.

home emerGency assistance

If, while a company’s employees are out of the country travelling on business, they are made aware of a domestic emergency at their private UK residence, they can contact Zurich Travel Assistance to organise an emergency visit and repair.

This is an arrangement-only service and the insured person will be responsible for all third-party costs, and will be made aware of this during the call. The insured person will need to be able to provide access to the premises and have the means available to pay for all costs upon completion of the work.

Within reason, there are no limitations to what services the insured person can request. However, they should be on an emergency repair basis only and typically for plumbing electrical and property repairs.

airPort lounGe access

To relieve the stress of travelling through busy airports and provide a haven for business travellers to work in, we have negotiated discounted rates with our worldwide airport lounge partner for all Zurich-insured travellers to access. There are a variety of membership plans that will cater for a traveller’s frequency of travel and an insured company’s employees can also take advantage of this lounge access during their holidays.

meet and Greet service

Arriving at a busy airport in an unfamiliar country can be quite daunting and a traveller can experience an increased risk of a security event during their first few hours. To best prepare employees for these more unstable destinations via Zurich Travel Assistance, we can arrange a 10% discount off an airport-transfer service where the travelling party can be provided safe and comfortable transportation.

In addition they will receive a personal local briefing on the current affairs and ‘dos and don’ts’ of the location they are in. All drivers are vetted and have an in-depth local knowledge of the region to ensure passengers’ safety remains paramount at all times. The cost of transport and the greet service is met by the traveller and varies from region to region and by journey length.

check-in service

This service provides peace of mind for travellers to higher hazard destinations as well as for those at home who may be concerned for their welfare. A pre-arranged phone call at a prescribed time and frequency is arranged prior to a trip from our security assistance partner.

This will allow the traveller to discuss any concerns for them or their group and specific protocols are agreed that will inform emergency contacts if a phone call is not answered and the situation can be monitored or escalated.

The cost of the service is met by the traveller who will determine the frequency of the calls and how many travellers in the group receive them. As a Zurich customer, a discounted rate will be afforded.
