    PRINCIPAL’S CORNER Dear Parents,

    We want to wish you a happy and safe summer vacation. If you are transferring, we wish you the best in your next duty station.   • Medications

    All medication administered at school must be

    in the original prescription- labeled container

    have a completed medication form signed by the medical provider.

    This includes over the counter medications such as Tylenol & Motrin (Ibuprofen). Students are NOT allowed to have any medication in their possession during the school day. Medication forms can be picked up from the school nurse or medical provider.

    Fever/Symptom Free

    Temperatures of 100.0°F (37.7°C) or greater exclude students from school. The student must be fever-free for 24 hours without use of medication before returning to school.

    Vomiting: student must remain home until vomiting resolves (no further vomiting for 24 hours)

    Diarrhea: student must remain home until diarrhea resolves (no further diarrhea for 24 hours)

    Alterations in Daily Activities

    If your child has an injury or condition that does not allow them to participate in school activities, please provide a doctor’s note.

    Overview of School Health Services

    The school nurse provides individualized health care for students, emphasizes health education at all levels, and utilizes available community and school resources to promote an overall healthy lifestyle for students, staff, and families. The school nurse:

    conducts health screenings

    monitors immunizations

    provides specialized health care services

    acts as medical resource for students, parents, and faculty

    provides individual health counseling

    evaluates and monitors communicable diseases

    Immunizations

    Current immunizations are required to attend DoDEA schools.

    This includes the annual flu shot. If noncompliant, newly-enrolled students may be disenrolled 30

    days after notification and currently enrolled students 10

    days after notification.

    Immunization Requirements

    DTaP: 5 doses (1 dose after age 4) Hepatitis A: 2 doses Hepatitis B: 3 doses MMR: 2 doses Polio:4 doses (1 dose after age 4) Varicella: 2 doses Annual Influenza Vaccine Tdap: 2 doses (one dose give at age 11, other dose given at age 16)

    Screenings

    Students are screened for vision and hearing problems. A military dentist may screen our students. Parents/sponsors will be notified of any findings requiring intervention. Contact the school to request or decline screening services.

    Emergency Contacts

    Update the school with your emergency contact numbers and email.

    Sponsor’s supervisor may be required to take action if primary & emergency contacts are unavailable.
