Since our offices are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for the next two weeks (Christmas and
New Year’s) this will be the last newsle er of 2013. Please take special note of important dates and ministry reminders as you read the ar cles in this edi on. Charlo e and I want to wish each member of our Mount Zion fami‐ly a Blessed and Merry Christmas and pray that the New Year will be marked by your awareness of the grace and mercy of the Lord each day.
I have enjoyed the music of Christmas over the last two weeks and look forward to hearing a final installment this Sunday evening as we gather to hear some of our small singing groups as well as the Crosswinds. I commend Mark and the en re music ministry for presen ng such worthy offerings during this season. Of course, they do a wonderful job each week through‐out the year in making worship memorable and honoring to the Lord.
We will con nue to promote giving to the Lo e Moon Christmas Offering for several more weeks. I want to thank you for your faithful support of our missions vision in general and for your boun ful giving to this offering that provides cri cal resourcing for our missionary forces serving around the globe. As you pray about the size gi that you will give to this offering re‐member that the most important things are that you par cipate at some level and that your par cipa on reflect an awareness of the need to share the gospel with unreached people groups around the world. I can’t imagine a more unselfish gi than the one given to meet this need.
Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Lord’s Supper services are just about my favorite services of the en re year. If you have not made a endance at one of these gatherings part of your family tradi on at Christmas, I encourage you to do so this year. As a reminder, the 4:30 service is usually the largest so you may want to consider coming at 6. We achieved more balance be‐tween the hours last year which made for a be er experience for everyone. I look forward to seeing you next Tuesday a ernoon or evening.
Finally, remember that gi s given for the 2013 tax year must be received in the church office by the last day of the year. If you have any ques ons about giving or areas of special need feel free to contact Frank Rucker in the finance office.

Wednesday Night Supper Will Resume on January 8, 2014
Associate Pastor By the me this newsle er goes out, on Tuesday a ernoon, our group of 32 will be beginning their fourth day in Hai . Among other things, we will have al‐ready worshiped in a cross‐cultural se ng, worked in a medical clinic, spent
me with orphans in an orphanage, and begun the process of build‐ing a house for a person in need. We will have seen things that challenge us, amaze us, and inspire us. We will have had the oppor‐tunity to speak the gospel in word and deed. Please con nue to pray for our group throughout the rest of this week – we return to Huntsville on Saturday, December 21. In truth, I can think of few be er places to be during the season of Christmas than on a mission field demonstra ng and proclaiming the love of Jesus to all who will listen. The great news for us all is that our mission field is not limited to na ons abroad – it also in‐cludes our friends, neighbors, coworkers and even strangers right here in Huntsville. I hope that during this Christmas season one of the ways we will celebrate the advent of Jesus’ coming into the world is by going into the world to proclaim His gospel of love and peace. As you pray for our group, please also ask God to open doors for you to develop rela onships with people who do not yet know Jesus. We will pray for you from Hai even as you pray for us from Huntsville. I look forward to coming home and sharing stories of how we, the people of Mount Zion, have been partnering with the Holy Spirit in fulfillment of the Great Commission at home and abroad.

HUGE THANKS to the Sanctuary Choir, Orchestra and Drama Cast for the wonderful presenta on of “One Holy Night.” The house was full and I believe everyone was blessed. Thanks to everyone who had a part in this wonderful presenta on.
This is my last newsle er ar cle for 2013 so let me take this oppor‐tunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed New Year. I pray that you will experience God’s richest blessings in 2014. My prayer is that He will keep His Song alive in your heart throughout the coming year.
As always, when a new year begins we reflect over the previous year and look forward to the new one. Naturally we want every New Year to be be er than the previous one. We want to be be er people and experience more successes in the coming year.
As I think back over the last year in our music and worship ministry, I remember many wonderful successes and how God has richly blessed us in so many ways. It has truly been a joy to serve the Lord with you this year. I thank my Lord every day for the opportunity to come to work and serve Him here at Mount Zion Bap st Church. We have Made His Praise Glorious in many ways, from the youngest pre‐school choir to the senior adults, both through singing and playing of instruments. I know that we are going to see God do amazing things in our midst as we keep our eyes on Jesus and follow Him in the com‐ing year. Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow!

I wanted to let you know of some upcoming opportuni es to be involved in the lives of our students, but first a few reminders. A er this week we will not be having Greenhouse again un l Wednesday, January 8th. Also, note that Lifegroups on Sunday Nights will resume on Sunday, January 12th.
Disciple Now is right around the corner! With that comes some wonderful opportuni es for you to be involved with our student ministry in various capaci es. One way to do that is to volunteer as a host home. As this kind of volunteer you would be opening your home to a group of students for them to have a place to sleep, eat some of the meals, hang out, have some small group mee ngs, and most importantly, shower. Every year we have several families who volunteer to do this, and we are always ex‐cited to have people who are willing to be a host home family who have never done so before. Another opportunity that Disci‐ple Now presents is for you to be a meal provider. It takes a lot of food to feed two hundred plus people and your help in this capacity would be greatly appreciated! There are three different mes during the weekend when you would be able to do this:
Breakfast and Lunch on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday. If you would like to sign up to either serve as a host home or a meal provider you can go to the church website. Go to mzbc.net, click on Students, then click on Upcoming Events. You can also regis‐ter your students for the event there as well. If you have any ques ons about Disciple Now please give us a call. Thank you all so much for inves ng in our students and for helping to make Disciple Now a successful and God honoring event! God bless and Merry Christmas!

Student Ministry Preschool & Children Last Wednesday was an ex‐ci ng me on our campus as the leaders prepared for the mission study on Peru in the children's ministry. As the chil‐dren explored the different foods, cra s and study, they learned that the culture is
much different and their way of life is a li le harder. Though they were able to pick out specifics that were unlike our ways, they did see that we are all striving to have the same goal‐ sharing Jesus. I loved watching their excitement. On another note, post cards have been sent out to children who are in first to sixth grade to remind you to sign your child up for CentriKid. The week long camp will be the second week in June and will be a life changing experience for your child. As they build rela onships with others you will see a desire to deepen their rela onship with Christ. Please encourage them to a end. You can go to mzbc.net and reserve your spot. Also, just a reminder that since this is the me of year where sickness is rampant, please make sure your child is 24 hours free of fever before sending them to church. By doing this, the illness will not spread further. I pray that all will be well soon and that each family will be healthy and back at church.

Thank you to everyone who stepped forward to assist in Upward Basketball. We by no means have all of our needs met. But, those who have stepped forward have eased the pressure some. There is s ll room for you should the Lord lay it on your heart to join us on Saturdays. The Christmas CASA Ramp Build on December 21st is at 5220 Mas n Lake Road. Work will start at 8:30 AM. Contact David Steinhauser at 256‐682‐1067 if you can help.
Thank you for giving from the heart to the Lo e Moon Christmas Offering. Through your giving the message of Jesus is carried around the world. Please give generously so that all may hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. From the Missions and Outreach desk in the CMC we wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
