Block Meetings Juntas de la cuadra

Want to organize a block meeting but are unsure how?

We can help! KKRNIA and Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers (SSCHC) are partnering up this summer and helping organize block meetings around the KK River Neighborhood. Want us to stop by your block? Call Stephanie at 414.897.5596 for more information.

What happens during a block meeting?

Block meetings are a great, safe way to meet your neighbors and community organizations. You’ll be able to exchange contact information, learn how to work together towards community solutions like rent a bed at your local community garden, and help plan neighborhood events.

When and where will block meetings take place?

Block meetings will be on weekdays between 3-5pm on the blocks located south of the KK River and East of 16th St. They will take place outside, and in the street. Let us know if that doesn’t work for you, we’re flexible! :)

Are block meetings in both Spanish and English?

YES.

Can anyone come to a block meeting?

YES.

¿Qué sucede durante una reunión de la cuadra?

Las reuniones de la cuadra son eventos excelentes y seguros para conocer a sus vecinos y organizaciones comunitarias. Podrá intercambiar información de contacto con sus vecinos, aprender cómo trabajar juntos hacia soluciones que benefician a la comunidad como conseguir un tope en su calle, alquilar un jardín comunitario local y/o ayudar a planear eventos en el vecindario.

¿Cuándo y dónde pasarán las reuniones?

Las reuniones de la cuadra serán los días de semana entre las 3:00 pm y las 5:00 pm en las cuadras ubicadas al sur del río KK y al este de la calle 16ª. Se llevarán a cabo afuera y en la calle. Pero, porfavor, háganos saber si esos tiempos no funcionan para usted, ¡somos flexibles! :)

Pulaski Park Construction: 2018 Updates Construcción del parque Pulaski: que se espera en el 2018

This summer, construction will begin to remove the concrete channel from the KK River running through Pulaski Park. Some of the Park will be closed off, but

the basketball court and playground will be accessible through August! Official construction schedule will be

announced at the KKRNIA meeting in July.

Gracias a todos los jardineros, vecinos, patrocinadores y miembros de la comunidad que apoyaron dos de nuestros eventos más coloridos: nuestra venta de plantas y la apertura del jardín. ¡Durante la venta de

plantas vendimos casi todas nuestras flores a un precio bajo y ayudamos a embellecer al vecindario en el proceso! En la apertura del

jardín, obtuvimos dos camas nuevas, instalamos una cerca y los jardineros comenzaron su temporada de jardinería.

¡Ya se pueden ver los vegetales brotando!

We had a great spring and hope to have an even greater summer- there are a lot of activities going on in the park. Our sixth annual picnic is July 21st. Our meetings are every second Wednesday at 6PM, and this summer after the meeting we will be walking in the park until 8 so come join us.

Thank you to all the gardeners, neighbors, sponsors, and community members who supported two of our most colorful events—the Bloom and Groom and Opening Garden Day. At the Bloom and Groom we sold nearly all of our affordably priced flowers, and helped beautify

the neighborhood in the process! At Opening Garden Day, we got two new beds, installed a fence, and gardeners started their gardening

season. Stop by, you can already see the vegetables growing!

Learn the history of your community and meet the artist who will be

designing an art piece to install in the KK River Neighborhood.

i n On Saturday July 21st, we will be hosting the annual Summer Picnic at the Pulaski Park Pavilion. Come and enjoy an art-themed picnic with live music, screen printing, artist proposals, face painters, and much more! Remember, keeping our parks busy with family-friendly events helps maintain a safe, clean, and accessible. .

El sábado 21 de julio, tendremos el picnic de verano anual en el pabellón del parque Pulaski. Venga y disfrute de un picnic con tema de arte, música en vivo, serigrafía, propuestas de artistas, pintores de rostros y mucho más. Recuerde, si mantenemos a nuestros parques ocupados con eventos familiars, ayudamos a mantener a nuestro vecindario seguro, limpio y accesible.
