From the Pastor It is so good to see people in the auditori-um on Sunday mornings. The smiling faces just lift my spirits. I will be glad when we can open everything back up. Until that time I understand some will feel more comfortable staying home and watching online. That is okay. You do what you feel comfortable doing. Pray for our church and staff that God will protect us during this time as we seek to minister for His glory. Some of you have been wanting to get out and go somewhere but everything has been shut down. Well they are open-

ing a lot of attractions back up. So let me offer you an opportunity to get away. It will be August 31-September 5. We will be taking a trip to see the Ark & Creation Museums in Kentucky. The cost is $587 per person. That includes the motor coach, 5 nights lodging, 5 breakfasts and 3 dinners as well as admission fees and all tips. We have 30 people who have paid deposits already. But we still have a few openings. The full price is due June 22. This will be a great learning experience. I don’t believe you will read about Noah

and the Ark the same way again after seeing it in person. It will be a great time of fun and fellowship. Rick Young and I will lead the trip. —Bro. Doug

Ministry Outside Sundays

Zach Foley Minister of Outreach & Mobilization

On July 26 we will be having a sending service for Brandon and Anna Walker, as they prepare to leave for Nicaragua. In what began for us more than two years ago in praying for God to send someone out from First Baptist East to the nations, and for them four years ago in praying about going to the nations, we will get to participate in just the begin-ning stages of this journey with them. To be sure, this will be a high moment for them and us both, knowing that what lies ahead will be a battle against demonic forces that God will Sovereignly allow to war against their flesh, soul and minds as they try to assist in planting the gospel in demonic strongholds. There will be moments like in Acts 7 when Stephen is stoned to death for proclaiming the gospel, and it will seem as though Satan is winning; only to find out that in the time span between Acts 7 and Acts 13 God would save the leader of the mob that put Stephen to death, and then send him out through the church that was planted because of the stoning of Stephen. To be clear, the process of spreading the gospel in Nicaragua will seem far less than glorious the majority of the time they are there. Yet what they can know is God is working, God is winning, and God is redeeming in the midst of it all. That’s where you and I come in. We get to be their support before, during, and after the process through prayer, words of encouragement, and finances. Prayer will be the ultimate battle ground on our end and theirs. And just in case this sounds intense for them, it is also a reality for us in Lawton, OK where the need for the gospel is just as obvious. I hope you will be pray-ing for them, and if God should lead you to do so, you can give to support them on our website. Click the Go tab under Missions and you will find the link to give!

SING...TOGETHER!! I Peter 2:5 says “You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ.” Even with our sharp points and rough edges we who are God’s people are being built together upon the solid Rock that is our Lord Jesus. When we sing together as the Church, we are showing how we are a congrega-tion of living stones. Our singing is an audible expression of the bonds we share, testifying to the life that lies within these stones. We are being chiseled and refined through our singing, just as we are through every aspect of our lives. We are forged together through our singing together. So, en-courage others with what you are singing, and expect to be encouraged by the fact that there are others singing with you and to you. All our individual stories meet at the cross-section of the wor-ship service. We are reminded that we are not alone-we are members of a multi-generational, multi-ethnic, multi-everything family. May we lay down our preferences and join our hearts in praise to the One who alone deserves our praise and worship! (taken from Sing! By Keith and Kristyn Getty)

Connection Hour Resumes June 21 at 9:30 a.m.! We are looking forward to meeting together again in our groups of all ages. However, as with everything, we want you to make the choice that is best for you and your family. Our Connec-tion Hour leaders have been asked to contact you to find out your intentions so that we can plan well. It is possible as with every activity during this time that we might have to change the date, but as of now we are planning on June 21. In the meantime if your group is meeting through Zoom or some other mechanism please continue to do so. Thanks to those of you who have been doing this over the last couple of months. You are also encouraged to con-tinue to reach out to new people in your neighborhoods and be creative in ways you can reach out to them during these days. As you reach out, continue to invite people not only to come, but also consider watching our worship services online. Be creative in ways you have never been before in thinking about advancing the gospel! Please pray for the resumption of Connection Hour and that our goal will be to continue to use it as our primary strategy to connect people to Jesus, His Truth, His Community and His Mission!

Connection Hour Needs

You! Very soon enlistment of leadership for the new year that begins in August will start. There will be needs in every age group - some will not be serving next year. Would you pray about serving as a Con-nection Hour leader in 2020-2021?

We are now meeting on Wednesday nights with students, kids, preschool and adults. Everything will begin at 6 p.m. until further notice. If you are coming and have preschoolers we are asking that you call the church office at 355-6190 and make a reservation.

Things to Remember When You Return to Church

There will be no bulletins available. Check the screens for announcements and other outlets such as social media and our texting service for information.

There will be no formal greeting time during the wor-ship services.

Social distancing should be practiced at all times - you will be encouraged to go to the parking lot for fellow-ship and conversation.

Children’s Church and Van Ministry are tentatively scheduled to resume on June 21.

NEW DATE! July 27-31

9 a.m.-12 noon

Faculty Meeting: June 28, 5 p.m. Your help is needed!

With the change of our dates, some of our volunteers that had been enlisted cannot serve. If you were not available in June, but could volunteer on this new date, we need you! We specifically need a 2nd Grade direc-tor and preschool music leader. We also need addi-tional people to help out in most age groups. Contact Trey, Linda or Kevin if you would like to help in the outreach event of the year for our church! If you have not picked up your literature, you can drop by the church office and do so.

The Best Way to Stay Informed

Stay up to date on schedule changes and information by signing up for our texting service. It is the quickest way to stay informed, in addition to our Facebook page. It is easy to do! Just text one of the following words to 94090 and you will be signed up for that group and you will receive texts that go to every-one, also. You can opt out of receiving texts at any time and it is possible, depending on your cell service, that message and data rates may apply. Use the fol-lowing to join one of the groups:

fbeinfo (messages for all the church) fbestudents (student ministry)

fbechildren (children’s ministry) fbechleader (Connnection Hour volunteers)

fbechoir (adult choir) fbemen (men’s ministry)

fbewomen (women’s ministry)
