Permaculture Design Certificate Course This PDC course will be taught by Mustafa Fatih Bakir, a permaculture consultant, designer and teacher with a professional background in architecture and landscape architecture. Mustafa has taken his PPC (Permaculture Practical Certificate) on the Mollisons' farm in Tasmania in 2007 and his PDC (Permaculture Design Certificate) a year later with permaculture pioneers Bill Mollison and Geoff Lawton in Melbourne. He has further worked with and studied under Geoff Lawton as an intern at The Permaculture Research Institute (PRI) of Australia in 2009. Mustafa is the founding director of The Permaculture Research Institute of Turkey and lives an active life in the village of Marmaric, in the mountains of the Eagean. He has designed and is presently the permaculture consultant for 5 projects in Turkey and a project in Spain. “Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the succession of night and day, there are indeed messages for all who are endowed with insight” [Qur’an 3:190] Permaculture is a practical system for sustainable living, based on observing principles and patterns in nature. By maximising relationships in living systems, permaculture has empowered people worldwide to develop projects that work with nature, rather than against it. Whatever scale or aspect of human living, whether the home and garden, mosque or Islamic centre, business or community space, permaculture can be applied to each situation. At the same time, Islam, a spiritual tradition that locates humankind within the wider ecology, has sustainability and relationship at its heart. The Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course is an internationally-recognized, 72-hour course resulting in a Permaculture Design Certificate. It provides an introduction to permaculture design as set forth by movement founder Bill Mollison. The PDC serves as foundation for further permaculture work and study and is a prerequisite for the Diploma in Permaculture Design, offered through The Permaculture Institute. Credit for this course is now accepted by a growing number of universities around the world. The Permaculture Design Course is a comprehensive and in-depth experience that equips Permaculture Designer with the foundation necessary to begin implementing Permaculture Design at any scale. Accommodations: On-Site Accommodations are NOT included in course fee. Spaces are available on-site but are limited. Food: Food and refreshments are provided for participants. The hosts serve halal food. Vegetarian options are available upon request. Dates: 23rd January until 4th February 2012 Workshop hours are 09.00 -17:30 with appropriate breaks for prayers, lunch and refreshments. Location: Kuang, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia. Within a half an hour drive or train ride from Kuala Lumpur. Course Fee: RM 2000 (Aprox. USD$ 630 ) Deposit of RM 700 must be made by 20th January 2012. *Early Registration and Payment of Deposit prior 10th December 2011 will be entitled to a discounted course fee of only RM 1700 (Aprox. USD$ 540) Full Payment must be made on or before the first day of class. Permaculture Design Certificate Course
