Postsecondary Perkins V Terminology
• Adult Student: student who is not concurrently enrolled in high school, e.g. dual
enrolled and/or early/middle college secondary students (student)
• Enrolled: student who is officially registered in a course and maintains enrollment
beyond the institutional drop date
• CTE Exiter: a postsecondary CTE student who is no longer enrolled in a CTE
program of study (Exiter)
• Occupational Course Credit: credit earned in a CTE-specific course, e.g. welding,
automotive

Postsecondary Perkins V Terminology
• Recognized Postsecondary Credential: a conferred CTE award degree, or
certificate, or an industry recognized third-party CTE credential (postsecondary
credential, credential)
• Reporting Period: enrollment period
o Students must be enrolled in and meet criteria of reporting status 1) in the
reporting period; or 2) by the end of the reporting period

1. has declared a CTE program of study AND earned at least one occupational
and/or academic credit (excluding developmental courses); OR
2. earned at least one occupational course credit
A postsecondary adult student (not concurrently enrolled in high school, e.g. dual
enrolled in high school and/or early/middle college secondary students) who:

2. declared a CTE major AND earned at least one occupational and/or academic

With CTE major
• Occupational/Academic credit must be earned by the end of the reporting
period (June 30, 2020)
o Remain participants every year until they:
• Advance to a CTE concentrator; or
• Change to a non-CTE major; or
• Are no longer enrolled at the institution

A postsecondary adult student (not concurrently enrolled in high school, e.g. dual
enrolled in high school and/or early/middle college secondary students) who:

• Nontraditional concentrators enrollment will be pulled from the CTE
