Dearest Parents

Wow … our inaugural newsletter!!! Isn’t it amazing that we have one to call our own? I love to show and display all the children’s work and be able to update you regularly on the children’s progress often. For this month’s newsletter, we decided to showcase some of your children’s work, together with some pictures taken during

our science centre field trip last month as well as what the kids do in class. In addition, we also have a story titled “Ah Kong’s Clock” for the children to read.

I’d like you to contribute articles you deem useful for each other to read and review too. I like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for sharing, for listening

and for your love and prayers and I am truly very

touched by all your care and concern. This newsletter is for the children and the coming months I’d like to feature more photos taken in class and more of their work too.

Have a great June Holidays! Spend lots of time reading and doing experiments and discovering new things with your children. Make time to play and spend time outdoors!

Ah Kong has a special clock. In fact, it is named

after him. This is my grandfather’s clock. It

stands proudly in the hall. And like Ah Kong, it watches over our family. The clock was passed down by Ah

Kong’s father. I love to hear the sweet echoes whenever

it chimes on the hour.

DONG! DONG! DONG!

Over the years, the clock has become a friend. A treasured part of our family.

Tick-tock! Tick-tock!

AH Kong’s clock has been with us through generations- faithfully

providing the time. Tick-tock! Tick-tock!

But one day, the clock suddenly

stopped!

This took me by surprise!

I remember our Chinese New

Year celebrations,

when Ah Kong’s clock was the

star.

On my fourth birthday, Ah

Kong’s clock was looking pretty. I wondered if it

wished it could try Ah Ma’s yummy

Hainanese chicken rice.

Why does it smell so fresh after it rains?

Because the air is clean and wet. First the rain washes floating bits, like dust and soot, out of the air. Then the wetness keeps the bits down on the ground, so they don’t get in the way of

you sniffing other stuff. Wet air carries the smells of the wet trees, grass and earth to your nose better than dry air does. The moisture in the air even makes the inside of your nose

wetter, the better to trap all those fresh smells!
