ANTON BROWNE I’m a working singer and an instrumentalist in the genres of blues, soul, jazz etc. performing on 100+ gigs a year ‐ my experience is current! It has been a pleasure to teach singing at The BRIT School since it opened in ’91. I co‐wrote and now teach the Popular Music Vocals singing grades (accredited by The London College of Music) and I was selected to tour as a vocal coach for BBC TV’s ‘The Voice UK’ – Series 1. As a teacher my main objec ve is to help students acquire a thor‐ough understanding of their voice – how it works, how best to use it. I help them to develop techniques that will protect the voice while maximizing its range and projec on. I support students in developing their unique, individual style. My technical singing training focuses on: Breathing and support Resonance and Placement Range and Registers Blending/Mix Belt, Shout & Scream (safely!) In the classroom I employ a range of techniques and technical equipment used by profession‐als in the industry, including reverb, eq, compression and (love it or loathe it) auto‐tune, as well as the most current devices, apps and technology for making backing tracks and their own prac ce recordings to help them prepare for exams. Along side gaining a sound musical understanding I encourage students to have fun experimen ng as they explore and develop their unique individual style.
