As the Fourth of July draws near, patriotic feelings are stirred across the nation, and Luxe Riot is no exception. In this issue of our periodical, we focus on companies that keep all their products American-made, instead of farming out production internationally. Everything featured in this periodical is completely made in the good ol’ US of A.The first American-made company we feature is American Apparel, whose entire production is done in Los Angeles, California. Not only does American Apparel keep all their business local, but they’re also active in their community, both in LA and nationally.Next is Bayside, an apparel company that specializes in work cloth-ing, as well as a variety of fabric goods.To wrap it up, we show you some examples of miscellaneous objects that can also be bought (and printed on!) right here in America.So as you sit back and smell the burgers or the tofu dogs sizzle on our nation’s birthday, remember you can be patriotic throughout the year. This is an amazing place we live in and that’s grounds to celebrate all year round. We’re thrilled we get to work with so many amazing people who keep that American dream alive. American Apparel knits, dyes, cuts, sews, photographs, markets, distributes, and designs all from their company facilities in Los Angeles. American Apparel operates the largest garment factory in the United States, at a time when most apparel production has moved offshore.

CLothes that stand for a CauseAmerican Apparel’s factory warehouse and distribution center houses hundreds of thousands of overstock garments, imperfects and other merchandise; and when disaster hits, they use this tool to get clothes to where they are desperately needed. Some of their recent efforts include:

In 2009, American Apparel hosted the Justice for Immigrants Factory Sale, where they sold over 15,000 overstock pieces at a sale in their parking lot and donated 100% of the proceeds to immigrant rights groups who cared for people impacted by the recent I-9 audits.

In January 2010, American Apparel allocated and donated over 80,000 garments to support Haiti Relief. 20,000 pieces went to Fashion Delivers, 20,000 pieces to Operation USA, 15,000 pairs of socks went to Soles4Souls, among many others.

In May 2010, American Apparel donated roughly 15,000 pieces to Soles4Souls for the victims of the Nashville floods that caused over $1B in damages. As a Tennessee based charity, they were first relief group on the scene.
