Welcome to the 20th anniversary season of Johnson County Community College’sPerforming Arts Series! This year, we’ve invitedan array of talented artists – singers, dancers,musicians, comedians and actors – who willmake you think, laugh or wonder.

We’re proud to have served the Johnson Countycommunity for 20 years by bringing nationallyand internationally known performers to ourstage. And we look forward to whom we mightbring in the future – accomplished performerswe now know and love and new ones yet to be discovered.

It seems like only yesterday when the curtainsopened in Yardley Hall and Johnson County had its own performing arts center. Twentyyears later, we look back at an incredible arrayof concerts, shows and events. Time flies whenyou’re having fun, the saying goes, and, since1990, we’ve had plenty of fun bringing you thePerforming Arts Series at Johnson CountyCommunity College.

No matter when you were first seated in theaudience here, the Performing Arts Series hasalways sought to provide a wide variety of artists and experiences. Undeniably, from musicto theater, dance and comedy, variety is ourconstant. We are proud to present events thatevoke a fond memory, inspire hope and elation,help us discover new worlds and enlighten usas we make our way through life.

Dedicated to providingmeaningful experiences for enrichment through the arts, PAS ArtsEducation offers a variety of opportunities. Other Cultural Opportunities at JCCCRuel Joyce and Jazz SeriesSince 1989, the free Ruel Joyce and Jazz recital series have attracted thebest musicians Kansas City has to offer in a small, intimate performancesetting. Ruel Joyce recitals feature classical music at noon on Mondays. Jazz concerts are at noon on Tuesdays. Seating is first-come, first-seated inthe 50-seat Recital Hall in the Carlsen Center. Both series are co-sponsoredby JCCC’s Music and Theatre department, Community Services division andthe Richard J. Jazz Winterlude: Kansas City StyleJazz Winterlude consists of two full days of jazz and a Sunday brunch.Master classes and clinics with jazz professionals are held for students. Withprofessional performances in a concert setting, festival-goers will hear stylesfrom Dixieland to contemporary and everything in between — swing, bigband, bebop and vocal jazz. Nerman Museum of Contemporary ArtThe 41,000-square-foot Nerman Museum presents major, cutting-edgecontemporary exhibitions, and showcases the museum’s celebratedOppenheimer Collection. Since opening in October 2007, the museum hasbeen host to hundreds of thousands of visitors. It features 10 major galleriesfor the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. Today, the works ofmore than 850 international, national and regional artists are on view in themuseum and throughout campus. Academic ProgramsThe JCCC Music and Theatre department produces an annual season ofplays, offering a variety of performance and technical opportunities for bothstudents and community members.
