acceptance test: the evaluating action(s) to determine if a new or modified piece of equipment satisfactorily

meets its performance criteria, permitting the purchaser to "accept" it from the supplier.

accuracy: the closeness of agreement between a measured value and the true value.

auxiliary Power: Electrical power used in the operation of the gas turbine power plant or elsewhere as definedby the test boundary.

bias error: See systematic error.

calibration: the process of comparing the response of an instrument to a standard instrument over somemeasurement range and adusting the instrument to match the standard, if appropriate.

emissions:air, solids and water discharges from power plant systems or noise from power plants systemswhich are regulated by authorities having urisdiction,such as air pollutants, waste streams and noise.

instrument: a tool, or device used to measure physical dimensions of length, thic!ness, width, weight or anyother value of a variable. hese variables can include: si#e, weight, pressure, temperature, fluid flow, voltage,electric current, density, viscosity, and power. Sensors are included which may not, by themselves, incorporatea display but transmit signals to remote data acquisition system or computer type devices for display,processing or process control. $lso included are itemsof ancillary equipment directly affecting the display of the primary instrument e.g., ammeter shunt. $lsoincluded are tools or fi%tures used as the basis for determining part acceptability.

measurement error: the true, un!nown difference between the measured value and the true value.

measurement uncertainty: Estimated uncertainty associated with the measurement of a process parameter orvariable.

net power: the electrical power leaving the test boundary minus any electrical power entering the testboundary.

parameter: a parameter is a physical quantity at a location which is sensed by direct measurement of a singleinstrument, or determined by the averaged measurements of several similar instruments.

parties to the test: for acceptance tests, are those individuals designated in writing by the purchaser, lender&sengineer, architech engineer (or facility supplier) and machine suppliers to ma!e the decisions required in this'ode. ther agents, advisors, engineers, etc. hired by the arties to the est to act on their behalf orotherwise, may or may not be considered, by this 'ode, to be arties to the est.

random error: sometimes calledprecision error; the true random error, which characteri#es a member of a setof measurements. (varies in a random, *aussian (normal) manner, from measurement to measurement).

uncertainty (+S): an estimate of the limits of random error with a defined level of confidence (usually -/).

rated power: the power output of the power system when operating at specified control and ambient conditions

ramp rate: he average ramp rate is the load change divided by the amount of time required to move from theinitial load to the final load. he instantaneous ramp rate is the slope at a given load in the measured loadchange process.

secondary variables: variables that are measured but do not enter into the calculation.

sensitivity: see influence coefficient0 the ratio of the change in a result to a unit change in a parameter.

shutdown: he actions required to safely stop the electrical generation from an operating power producingfacility.

startup: he actions required to safely reach a predefined minimum load for a electrical generation facility in ashutdown or off1line condition.

systematic error (2): sometimes called bias0 the true systematic or fi%ed error, which characteri#es everymember of any set of measurements from the population. 3t is the constant component of the totalmeasurement error (4).

systematic uncertainty: an estimate of the limits of systematic error with a defined level of confidence (usually-/).

test: comprises of a group of test runs adequate to establish the performance over the specified range of

operating conditions.

test run: comprises the readings and5or recordings sufficient to calculate performance through one set ofoperating conditions.

test uncertainty: uncertainty associated with a corrected test result.

uncertainty: is the interval about the measurement or result that contains the true value for a given confidencelevel.
