In general, Alan has served the MPO Exec Comm and Board well. My only recommendation is that he respond more promptly to substantive questions from the Board; and recently where there were procedural issues, to be more forceful in providing direction to the Chair.

COMMENTS:

The General Council is totally satisfactory in performing his job. He has always been prepared with

answers to situations that arise. When an occasional question surfaces that is not a clear answer, he

delves into it further and gets back to us with the results of his research. There have been many

questions which have arisen during the whole process of the sales tax approval for the November ballot.

I feel that we have been advised very clearly of the appropriate action that we should take as MPO

board members. I feel he is in constant contact with the MPO Director and staff to guide them through

all necessary legal matters.

COMMENTS:

Alan Gabriel’s performance as General Counsel for the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization has

been outstanding (Satisfactory). His legal advice has been well based within the law and has been

considered in the context its practical application to the organization. His emphasis on the current surtax

issue is to be lauded.
