Intern Performance Evaluation An internship is a learning opportunity for students. Students should therefore receive feedback on their performance so that they can grow professionally. This feedback can come from two sources, the internship site supervisor, and the faculty or staff member grading the student. This form can be used to help the student learn what he or she did well and where he or she can improve. This form should be modified as appropriate. Please encourage students to have their internship site supervisor complete this evaluation. 23 November 2016 Design Institute of South Africa Groenkloof, Pretoria BACKGROUND A graphic design student, Mr Tebogo Mamabolo, Approached the Design Institute of South Africa for a Learnership experiance and his proporsal was approved and accepted by the department on a nonpayment agreement verbal contract, he was assigned under Memory Thwala (Senior Graphic Desiger) Managed by Carine De Swardt (Studio 118 Manager). Mr Mamabolo joined the SABS Design Institute on the 08th of August 2016. As the Design Institute’s core function includes graphic design, Mr Mamabolo gained exposure in working in a graphic design studio/ environment to assist Senior Graphic Designers. This was an opportunity for Mr Mamabolo to access professional growth, experience for 3 months. JOB DESCRIPTION The purpose of the learnership is to provide Tebogo with a learner-ship opportunity at the SABS Design Institute, as part of the performance improvement programme. Tebogo will be monitored according to the DI: Graphic Designer Job Profile and reviewed subsequently on responsibilities and skills within this area by Memory Thwala. BACKGROUND

Project Overview

SABS Design Institute and Seda have entered into an agreement for the purpose of development of SMMEs. Design Support Sessions is conducted on selected clients and a report on intervention (improvements) and new product designs, packaging proposal and brand change is submitted.

Design Support is a design intervention in applying the recommendation approved by Seda with clear deliverables on intervention and further recommendations, product design improvements, product packaging, corporate identity.

Project Evaluation

Tebogo shadowing Memory thwala attended his first interaction with candidates on this date during our SEDA Design Support Session. He articulated a good understanding of taking a brief from a client and created and implemented design elements that support the SMME’s growth opportunities and market. The client was extremely impressed with the new company logo and other marketing elements.

Project Overview

Transnet is actively spearheading innovation and industrial design entrepreneurship and is committed to a partnership with the SABS Design Institute to influence the development of young black industrialists.The Transnet Design and Innovation Research Centre, hosted at the SABS Design Institute, is directly geared for providing facilities and resources for SMMEs, black industrialists and youth entrepreneurs to research and develop innovative ideas which have commercial viability. For the past two years Transnet’s partnership with the SABS Design Institute has yielded positive results amongst learners, especially from rural areas, as well as amongst black innovators and entrepreneurs. In these features we review the ground-breaking social and economic impact of Transnet’s investment on the economic future of our country.

Project Evaluation

Tebogo successfully integrated the old Transnet Young Movers Campaign Certificates and gave it a fresh new look, was approved internally and handed over to the client for approval.
