NET ENERGY METERING AND SMALL GENERATOR INTERCONNECTIONS

QUALIFYING RENEWABLE TECHNOLOGIESn Solar (photovoltaic cells or solar heating)

n Wind (turbines or windmills)

n Biomass (using plant or animal matter as fuel)

n Electric-geothermal (heat from the earth)

n Anaerobic Digestion (micro-organisms break down organic materials)

n Fuel Cells (chemical energy from a fuel)

n Hydropower (water turbines and dams)

n Co-generation and Microturbines

Customer-generated electricity can offset all or part of the energy you normally would use from Pepco.

WE CAN HELP YOU MAKE A SAFE AND RELIABLE INTERCONNECTIONIf you’re a Pepco customer thinking of generating your own electricity with renewable energy sources, our Green Power Connection™ process can help make it possible. Before you purchase or install renewable energy systems, it is important that you first submit an interconnection application and agreement, along with supporting documentation. Our dedicated team of account coordinators will process your application and provide you with additional guidance. When you have successfully met the requirements, we welcome the opportunity to have your energy generating system interconnect to the electric grid.

Unauthorized Interconnections Are UnsafeRenewable energy systems installed or operating without written authorization from Pepco endanger our workers, who will not have a record of the system. These systems pose a safety risk to our customers, system components, facilities and general public. They can also cause voltage overload problems on the electric grid, preventing safe and reliable electric service. We can send a cease-and-desist notification to stop generation or disconnect electric service at your home or business.

Contact Our Green Power Connection™ TeamThere are many factors to consider as you look into generating electricity using renewable energy sources. To learn more or access our online application and links to useful information, visit pepco.com/gpc or call 1-866-634-6977.

RENEWABLE ENERGY CAN HELP YOU EARN CREDITS ON YOUR MONTHLY BILLn After you successfully complete the interconnection application

and screening process, we will send you an Authorization to Operate letter

n At the end of the installation process, we will install a net-capable meter at your home or business

n A net-capable meter measures energy that flows in both directions between the customer-generator system and the electric grid

n Excess generation is shown in the “Details of Your Energy Charges” section of your Pepco bill

HELPFUL TIPS BEFORE YOU INSTALLn Follow the Net Energy Metering and Small Generator Interconnection

Application Checklist shown in the next section

n Thoroughly research renewable technologies that are eligible for interconnection and net energy metering

n Work closely with your contractor to ensure you understand the interconnection application process, fees and documentation

n Electricity generation fluctuates as a result of several factors – clouds, darkness and dirty panels all limit solar generation. We recommend you understand how your system will operate under varying conditions, and how these conditions can impact your Pepco bill

n The renewable system should be sized to meet your electrical needs

n Ensure you have passed our screening results and have received a written Approval to Install letter before you begin construction

FOLLOW OUR STEP-BY-STEP PROCESSBefore you start, carefully review this checklist. Each step must be followed in the order shown before you can operate your renewable energy system.

Steps Actions to TakeResponsible

Party
