PEP Essay Two
The second event that I attended was the Internship Information session on
November 13, 2013. This event was really beneficial to me considering I’m
applying to internships for JAT credit for my integrated strategic communications
major. Even though there were only two people there, including myself, I gained a
lot of knowledge on internships and what qualities employees are looking for in
each of their positions.
Overall, I’m glad I went to this session. The internship manager at the career
center hosted the session. Instead of presenting information, she focused on each of
our needs for internships and helped us prepare for the future. For instance, she
asked us a lot of questions regarding what college we are in and what we hope to
have as a career. Then she focused her attention on what the career center can offer
us designated to each of our needs. She handed us a lot of information regarding the
website listings of internships on their website and asked us if we have set up an
account yet. I didn’t even know we could set up an account. I came out of that
session with a new account and knowledge on what employees look for and an
understanding on what to apply and where to apply for internship positions.
The Career Center is a great resource for not only job opportunities but
internships as well. The host of the session helped me understand more about what
The Career Center offers. For it being just two people who attended this event, I
gained a lot more insight on internships than I would if 50 people attended. I’m glad
she did this session one-on-one because otherwise I don’t think I would of asked
that many questions. I’ll take what I gained from this experience and apply it for my
internship interviews in the future.
