Purpose

The purpose of this guide is to explain how to complete PeopleSoft Finance and

Procurement training through the User Productivity Kit (UPK). UPK is an online training

tool you use to learn the appropriate PeopleSoft material for your role.

This guide also includes how to complete PeopleSoft 8.8 Navigation Training and how to

use UPK as you do your daily tasks in PeopleSoft.

Completing UPK Training

To complete the required UPK training, follow these steps.

1. If you are a new PeopleSoft 8.8 user, do the navigation training (see “Complete

PeopleSoft 8.8 Navigation Training”).

2. Determine which UPK training topics you need to complete for your job function (see

“Determine Your UPK Roles”).

3. Open the UPK Player and display your required training topics (see “Set Up UPK

Training”).

4. Do the required UPK training topics (see “Complete Your Training Topics”).

5. When you have completed UPK training, follow these steps:

a. Send an e-mail to the _UPK mailbox, noting that you have completed training. A

generic message is sent to you with additional instructions.

b. If you need a Procurement ID, complete the Access Request Form (a link to this

form appears in the generic message).

c. If you need a Finance ID, log a case with ITCSC.

Important: The _UPK mailbox only logs users who have completed their training. When

you send a message to the mailbox, you only receive the generic message. Do not send

questions or requests to this mailbox.

Complete PeopleSoft 8.8 Navigation Training

If you have never used PeopleSoft 8.8, do this basic course to learn how to navigate

efficiently in PeopleSoft. Follow these steps to set up and complete the training.

1. If necessary, map to the \\gorilla\procuserdoc$ shared drive by following these steps:

a. Open Windows Explorer.

b. Select Tools, Map Network Drive….

c. Select a letter in the Drive field.

d. Type \\gorilla\procuserdoc$ in the Folder field.

e. Select the Reconnect at logon check box.

f. Click [Finish].

2. Open \\gorilla\procuserdoc$\UPK_Training_Appendices.

3. Double-click setup_nvafl_eng.exe.

4. Follow the prompts to download the navigation training.

5. Begin the training by selecting Start, Programs, PeopleSoft Knowledge Center

Courses, Skills OnDemand, PeopleSoft Financials and SCM 8.8 Pre-Class

Navigation Tutorial.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to do the training.

7. To exit from the training at any time, click [Quit] in the lower right corner.

Determine Your UPK Roles

Your job function is related to one or more training roles in UPK. Each training role is

associated with one or more UPK training topics that you must review.

Follow these steps to determine your UPK roles.

1. Go to “Appendix A: UPK Roles” at the end of this guide.

2. Locate your job role in the Job Function column. If you are not sure of your role,

check with your supervisor.

3. Note the UPK roles for your job function in the Required UPK Roles column.

Example: If your job role is AP Clerk – Customer Services, your required UPK roles are

AP Inquiry and AP PO Inquiry.

4. Note which other UPK roles may apply to your job function in the Optional UPK

Roles column.

Important: You do not need to complete the topics for optional UPK roles at this time.

However, you may want to refer to them in the future.

Set Up UPK Training

After you have determined your required UPK roles, select the roles in the UPK Player.

When you select your roles, your required training topics display.

Follow these steps to prepare for training by selecting your roles in UPK.

1. From the Corning Intranet Home page, open the User Productivity Kit (UPK) Player

in one of the following ways:

Type http://seahawk.corning.com/training88/index.html in the Address field, and

press [Enter].

Click Finance (under Staff & Department Web Sites). Then click System Logins,

PeopleSoft UPK Training.

Click Procurement & Transportation (under Staff & Department Web Sites).

Then click Procurement Tools, PeopleSoft 8.8 UPK Training.

Note: An introductory page for UPK also opens. You can minimize or close this page.

2. Click My Roles to display the My Roles dialog box.

3. Choose your required UPK roles by selecting the check box to the left of each role.

4. Click [OK]. The UPK Player displays only the modules that apply to the roles you

selected.

Complete Your Training Topics

Follow these steps to complete the required training topics for your role. For information

on playback mode options, refer to “Navigating within UPK Topics.”

1. In the UPK Player, select a module (for example, Enterprise Payables 8.8) and read

the information in the Concept pane.

2. Click + next to the module to display the lessons within the module.

3. Select the first lesson (for example, Maintaining Vendors) and read the information in

the Concept pane.

4. Click + next to the lesson to display the topics within the lesson.

5. Select the first topic (for example, “Using Vendor Mapping Tables”) and read the

information in the Concept pane.

6. Click one of the following playback modes to learn about the topic:

See It! mode is a simulation. You observe while UPK demonstrates each step in

the procedure.

Try It! mode is interactive. UPK guides you as you practice the task at your own

pace. This mode is recommended.

Know It! mode is a testing mode that scores you. This mode provides you with

few instructions; you are expected to know how to navigate and which values

must be entered in each field.

Important: If you use Know It! mode, print the job aid for the topic. The job aid

provides help in completing the task. See \\seahawk\peoplesoft 88 training$\Job Aid for

PeopleSoft 8.

Navigating within UPK Topics

You can do a number of actions while in a UPK playback mode. In most cases, you click

the Actions menu to display options.

Using UPK on the Job

You can use UPK at any time to review information. In addition to the training modes

discussed in “Complete Your Training Topics,” the UPK Player contains a fourth mode,

Do It! mode. This mode is designed to help you when you are working in PeopleSoft and

need assistance.

Follow these steps to use Do It! mode.

1. From the Corning Intranet Home page, open the UPK Player in one of the following

ways:

Type http://seahawk.corning.com/training88/index.html in the Address field, and

press [Enter].

Click Finance (under Staff & Department Web Sites). Then click System Logins,
