REPAIR AND RENOVATION FUND AT WORK!
Recently, work was completed on the front of the Pope
Francis Parish Center which included the replacement of nine (9) windows on the front of the building. Efforts
are also being made to repair a leak in the vestibule of
the Church. Scaffolding and repairs are made possible
through our second collections titled “R&R - Repair
and Renovation Fund”. We THANK ALL PARISHIONERS for their ongoing support & generosity!

ARE YOU A NEW MOM? BREASTFEEDING CAFÉ TUESDAYS
Need encouragement and support as you nurse your baby?
Join NYU Lactation Services as they host a “Breastfeeding
Café” where mothers can nurse their baby with guidance from
an NYU Langone Health lactation consultant while meeting
other new moms!
The Breastfeeding Café will meet every Tuesday from 12pm-
2pm in Room 11 of the Pope Francis Parish Center.

SECOND COLLECTION
Today's Second Collection is for the ongoing "Repair and
Renovation" of our Church Buildings. The "R & R"
Collections will be helping us to pay for the Renovation of
the Pope Francis Center. We ask all parishioners to be as
generous as possible and thank everyone for their sacrifices
and generous support!

FATHER’S DAY NOVENA Fathers Day is NEXT Sunday, June 16th, 2019. If you
would like to remember your Father, Grand-
Father, God-Father, or Father figure in your life,
living or deceased, with a Father’s Day Novena of
Masses, Father’s Day envelopes are available in
the back of the Church or in the Rectory Office. THE FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI
SUNDAY, JUNE 23RD On Sunday, June 23rd, the Feast of Corpus Christi (the Body
and Blood of Christ), we will have a Procession with the
Blessed Sacrament beginning after the 12 Noon Mass.
Eucharistic Processions on the Feast of Corpus Christi have a
long tradition in Catholic Communities throughout the world.
We are happy to continue this tradition this year. After the
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the conclusion of the 12
Noon Mass, we will exit the Church in Procession with the
Blessed Sacrament, with prayers and songs in English and
Spanish. We will process "up" 44th Street to Seventh Avenue
and then "down" 41st Street, returning to Church. More
information will be made available in next weekend’s bulletin!
PARISH COUNCIL
The next Parish Council meeting will be held in
the Chapel at 1:30pm on Sunday, June 30th.
One member of each parish group should be
present at this important meeting.
CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP
The parish Charismatic Prayer Group
“Dios con Nosotros” invites all
parishioners to a vigil titled “Reciban
el Espiritu Santo” on Saturday, June
29th from 7pm-11pm in the school
auditorium on 43rd Street. For more

The event is free, and will be held in Spanish. All are
invited!
NYU Langone Health Center will be offering No Cost
Measles Vaccinations to adults from 9am-2pm TODAY,
Sunday, June 9th in the Chapel. For more information,
please visit the Chapel and speak to representatives from
NYU Langone Health Center. Thank you!
We thank all parishioners and the various parish groups
who supported Fr. Pedro, by prayer and assistance, as he
celebrated his Ordination and First Mass last weekend. In
a particular way, we thank those parish groups who
donated food and drinks for his reception, and those
parishioners who helped organize the festivities.

LA FIESTA DE CORPUS CHRISTI
DOMINGO 23 DE JUNIO
El domingo, 23 de junio, fiesta del Corpus Christi (el Cuerpo y
la Sangre de Cristo), tendremos una procesión con el Santísimo
Sacramento a partir de la misa de las 12 del mediodía. Las
procesiones eucarísticas en la fiesta del Corpus Christi tienen
una larga tradición católica. Comunidades en todo el mundo.
Estamos felices de continuar esta tradición este año. Después de
la Exposición del Santísimo Sacramento al final de la misa de
las 12 del mediodía, saldremos de la Iglesia en procesión con el
Santísimo Sacramento, con oraciones y canciones en inglés y
español. Procesaremos "arriba" de la calle 44 hasta la Séptima
Avenida y luego "abajo" de la calle 41, volviendo a la Iglesia.

fin de semana!
CONSEJO PARROQUIAL
La próxima reunión del Consejo Parroquial se llevará a
cabo en la Capilla a la 1:30 pm el domingo 30 de junio.
Un miembro de cada grupo parroquial debe estar

Introducing the Marine Pilot Thomas Phelan, FDNY
Memorial Scholarship to benefit the youth of St. Michael’s Church
We thank the Phelan Family for sponsoring an additional
“Memorial Scholarship” in memory of Marine Pilot Thomas Phelan,
FDNY. Thomas was a life-long parishioner of St. Michael’s Church,
born and raised in Sunset Park. On September 11, 2001, he helped
rescue survivors off of Manhattan Island while working as a Statue of Liberty ferry captain.
He joined the FDNY in May of 2003 and went on to be promoted as a Marine Pilot of the
Marine 9. Thomas passed away on March 16, 2018 after battling 9/11 related cancer. In
October of 2018, 40th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues was renamed in Thomas’ honor.

Due to the generosity of parishioners, business owners and other contributors, a very successful
“Lights of Inspiration” scholarship fundraiser was held this Christmas. Today, we are able to offer
(4) scholarships in the amount of $2,500.00 each, to help the youth of St. Michael’s Church reach
their dreams. The Lights of Inspiration scholarships are available to all young people of St.
Michael's Church who are currently enrolled in or will be entering college in the fall of 2019.
