    Pentecost Sunday May 27

    Pentecost Sunday

God our Father, let the Spirit you sent on your Church to

begin the teaching of the gospel continue to work in the world

through the hearts of all who believe. We ask this through our

Lord Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy

Spirit one God for ever and ever.

Father of light, from whom every good gift comes, send

your Spirit into our lives with the power of a mighty wind, and by

the flame of your wisdom open the horizons of our minds. Loosen

our tongue to sing your praise in words beyond the power of

speech, for without your Spirit man could never raise his voice in

words of peace or announce the truth that Jesus is Lord, who

lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, for ever

    and ever.

They committed their lives to God.

They’re dedicated to the service of the poor.

    The Vatican says they’re laudable.

Yet now they face the wrath of Rome!!!

Have you been following the reprimand meted out to the nuns

    and religious sisters of America?

Have you been following the impending readmission of

the ultra conservative Society of Saint Pius X (which rejects the

Second Vatican Council and which were all excommunicated by

Blessed John Paul II) back into communion with Rome (a very

personal desire of Pope Benedict XVI)?

Have you been following the growing rift between the Catholic

Country of Ireland and the Vatican?

Have you been following the pro-reform Austrian Priests’ Initia-

tive and their call for the Vatican to look at Ordination of married

    persons and women?

These are all important issues for us as Catholics to be

knowledgeable about and concerned about. Did you follow the

potential implosion of Pope Benedict’s Papacy a few years ago

when among other things he inflamed all the Muslims of the

World in an address he gave at Regensburg, Germany? We need

to be smart as Catholics and up to date on what is happening in

    our Church and World.

If you would like to be on an electronic distribution list

from a friend of mine who is a reporter in Rome and holds the

position as “Rome Correspondent for The Tablet”, the oldest

English language Catholic weekly magazine with one of the larg-

est circulations, please give me your email address and I would be

glad to place you on my distribution list for Robert Mickens Arti-

cles. Robert Mickens who holds degrees in Theology from the

Gregorian University in Rome almost daily sends me articles

from various Catholic (The Tablet, National Catholic Reporter,

America, and Commonweal) and other sources of important

things going on in the Church.
