PENNY LAB Reviewing how to conduct a lab
SET UP
Page 4 of your Science Notebook (from now on abbreviated NB)Title: Penny Lab
I predict that we can put drops of water on the penny before the water flows off. [write the preceding and make your prediction]
1. Materials
Construct 2-column Data Table Headings: trial #, # of drops
Calculate the average # of drops of water Show work: equation for average, plug in the numbers, underline average with units.
2. Procedure Drop water onto the penny one drop at a time keeping careful count of number of drops.
Need to drop water until the penny can’t accept any more—you will need to go “one-drop too far” and the water will actually need to spill over. One drop less than “spill over” will be your amount.
You need three good trials3. Data & Calculations

(dropper)• Paper towel
• Sample Calculation
