17th Annual Penn-York Conference for

Undergraduate Research

The 17th annual Penn-York conference for undergraduate research was hosted at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, November 5, 2016 This conference gives presenting students the real-world experience of the profes-sional presentations commonly found in academic environments, and it is also an excellent resume-builder for students looking to apply to graduate school. Un-dergraduates of any field of academic study are invited to submit their research for presentation at the conference. Projects from all disciplines in the behavior-al and social sciences, biological, computa-tional and physical sciences, health-related and applied sciences, and humanities were welcomed. In previous years, more than a dozen uni-versities across Pennsylvania & New York have sent their students to present their research in an academic environment.

Pitt-Titusville hosted the 6th annual College and Career Fair for local high school students on Thursday, November 10th. Approximately 600 students attended from 11 high schools in-cluding Cranberry, Union City, East Forest, West Forest, Rocky Grove, North Clarion, Cam-bridge Springs, Saegertown, Maplewood, Titusville, and Conneaut.

The students visited with approximately 40 colleges, listening to presentations, and enjoying lunch in McKinney Commons.

Help Us Serve Children All Over the World

Join Alpha Omega in supporting Operation Christmas Child (OCC) this Christmas season. Alpha Omega will be collecting shoeboxes that will be wrapped up and filled with new toys, clothing, accessories, pens/pencils, hygiene products, books, and other items to be shipped to children in developing nations and impoverished areas across the globe who otherwise would not receive a gift this Christmas.

In sponsorship with Samaritan’s Purse, OCC asks individuals, groups, churches, and schools to purchase small items over the next two weeks. Items should be purchased for both boys and girls ages 2-4, 5-9, and 10-14. Alpha Omega is currently in need of a couple more shoe boxes and other items. Each shoe box packed must be accompanied with $7 for shipping. Financial donations will also be accepted over the next couple weeks. On Monday, November 14th from 6p.m.-8p.m. Alpha Omega will be sponsoring a Wrapping Party to help wrap-up and pack shoeboxes, write letters of love and encouragement and have a fun time with music, food, and a Hot Chocolate Bar!

All students are encouraged and welcome to donate or attend. Residence halls may choose to pack their own shoebox and can drop it off at the wrapping party.
