Penafiel is a Portuguese city of Oporto District, Northern Region and subregion Tâmega.It is located in a municipality with 212.82 km ² of area and 71,801 inhabitants, divided in 38 parishes. The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipality of Lousada, northeast by Amarante, east by Marco de Canaveses, south of Castelo de Paiva and west by Gondomar and Paredes.Foundation : 1519
