with a grey or green base andconsider yellows and creamyneutrals for a lighter, cheerierfeel. Sunny south-facing roomsare much easier, as most colourswork well. Rooms that face westare also easy to decorate – whiteswork particularly well – whereaseast-facing rooms suit blues andgreens best.

choice of wall colour, suchas the colour of the flooring,window treatments, furniture andaccessories, if you predominantlyuse the room at a certain timeof day, and whether you wantto create a dark and moody orlight and airy feel, or somethingin between. If you’re not surewhat you want, feature walls area good way to enjoy a limitedamount of colour in a room andaren’t difficult to repaint if youchange your mind.
