Chairman’s Report:

I would like to congratulate our two new Bowling Am President Bob Johnstone & Robyn Schey. I wish them and their respective Bowling Arms every success for the coming year and look forward to working closely with both them and their committee. It is good to see
some new faces on the Arms and this stands well for the future.
We had two iinvisits his month, both being very successful, and supported by club mem-
bers.
Birthday Bash this month saw the presentation of your wrong Bias money donated to our Charity Dove Cottage, approximately $2300.00. Ralph Nolan who collects the money for the Bias box did the presentation for the Board,. Thank you Ralph. Also Escape Travel presented a similar amount for their Donation to Dove Cottage. Remember that Escape Travel donates 1% of any money you spend on travel at their Caloundra office. Do not
forget to tell them that you are a member of the PWBC .
Christmas is almost upon us, and on Behalf of the Board I would like to wish every mem-
ber and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Stay safe.
See you around The Pelican

SECRETARY’S REPORT:
Not a lot to report this month. When this goes to print Helen and I will be living it up in Las Vegas or visiting the Grand Canyon having just completed a 15 day Panama Canal Cruise.
By now most members will have received an invoice for their 2017 membership fees which are the same as those levied in 2016. It will be greatly appreciated if these fees can be paid well before the due date so we can finalise our end of year membership records. In par-ticular, we need to know before the 31 December those members who will not be renewing their membership so we don't overpay affiliation fees to Bowls Queensland and Bowls Australia.
I would also like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2017.

Holiday Fruitcake Recipe
1 cup Water 1 cup Sugar 4 Large eggs
3 cup dried fruit 1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp. salt 1 cup Brown sugar Lemon juice, nuts
1 FULL bottle of your favourite whiskey
Sample the whiskey to check for quality. Take out a large bowl.
Check the whiskey again to be sure that it is of the highest quality. Pour 1 level cup and drink. Repeat.
Turn on the electric mixer; beat 1 C of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 tsp. sugar and beat again.
Make sure the whiskey is still OK. Cry another cup. Turn off the mixer.
Break two geggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Mix on the burner.
If the fried fruit gets stuck in the beaters, pry it loose with a screwdriver.
Sample the whiskey to check for toxisisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt.
Or something. Who cares? Check the whiskey. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one tablespoon of sugar or something...whatever you can find. Grease the oven. Turn on the cake tin to 350 degrees.
Don't forget to beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window. Check the whiskey again. Go to bed.
Who the hell likes fruit cake anyway???
ON BEHALF OF ALL THE RESTURANT, BAR AND MANAGEMENT STAFF A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR.
5 LADIES BOWLING ARM - PRESIDENT’S REPORT
We have all been taking it easy in November after such a busy October
and this was reflected in the number of ladies on the green.
A very happy Ladies Appreciation Day was held on 9th November. We played one game of bowls and were then joined by Past Presidents and
invited guests for a special Afternoon Tea.
Thank you to all who helped and supported the day to make it special for me and for all who attended. Special thanks to VP Robyn Schey
whose decorative talents are much appreciated.
Numbers were down this year for our Graded and Drawn 4’s Competi-tion on 16th November, however everyone enjoyed the day. Congratu-lations to the winners: Patti Claridge (skip), Barb Shord (3rd), Loretta
Searchfield (2nd) and Anne Roughton (lead)
Thanks to all who participated especially those who shared a game to help out and also to give some of our newer bowlers competition experi-
ence.
Our next big event is the Break up Day on 7th December where we will play a short game of bowls followed by lunch and entertainment. The standard of entertainment has been very high over the last few years so we hope not to disappoint this year. It is always a lot of fun so dress up
in your best Christmas gear and celebrate another great year.
As this will be my last PB Brief as President I would like to thank every-one for their wonderful support over the last 2 years and pass on my
best wishes to the new Committee.
Play while you can

MBA President’s Report:
The month of November is almost over with thoughts now on December and Christmas.
The seven Pelican Waters teams travelled to Bramble Bay on Saturday 5th November for the
first of visits between the two Clubs. PW teams featured well in the financial result although
not the major prize. Our bowlers returned home with glowing reports of the day, with the
lunchtime and afternoon tea a highlight.
The PW Men’s Arm have their Annual General Meeting on Monday 21st November, 2016.
Plans for the last Birthday Bash of the year on Friday 25th November, are progressing well
with good numbers for this event.
The Annual Christmas Party Breakup and Presentation of Trophies will be held on Saturday
3rd December, 2016. Tickets for this event may be purchased from the bar. All members are
encouraged to attend to honour the competition winners for 2016.
Saturday 10th December 2016 has been scheduled for Volunteers Day. All ladies and men
who have given their time for necessary duties or chores around the Club are entitled to at-
tend and are requested to include their names on the board sheet provided.
Many thanks go to Peter Crowe, Seaside Real Estate and John Sharp A1 Transport for their
generous trophy support for Tuesday Social Bowls.
I regretfully advise this will be my last Brief Report , as I am not nominating again for Presi-
dent for 2016/2017. I have enjoyed my responsibilities for the past year, with outstanding help
and advice from the Executive of the Bowling Arm, Club Board and fellow members.
I wish the incoming committee every success for 2016/2017.
