• He was not noticed until he was 11 years old.

• He first learned the game of soccer from his father, who was a center forward until his career was ended by a fractured leg.

• He scored 1281 goals in his career.• He played in 1360 games.• He almost scored 1 goal per game. That is

crazy for a soccer player.• He was the youngest player to win a world

cup when he was 17 years old. In that same game he scored two goals.

• He played on 4 world cup teams for Brazil and won 3 world cup championships.

Pele Comes to the U.S.

• Pelé came out of retirement in 1975 when he joined the New York Cosmos. He retired from soccer for good in 1979.
