PEGEPROPOSALYou should prepare a proposal by yourself. The typical situation is thinking at a
subject, present this subject to a potential technology supervisor, and write and
amelioratetheproposalwiththissupervisor.Webelievethatformulatingyourown
PEGEproposalisagoodexercise.
Inthisprocess,youcanfinddifficultieswithfindingthesubjectand/orwithfinding
thesupervisor.Inbothcases,youcametoDEGandtalkwithmeormycolleagues.
In PEGE you normally have two supervisors – a professor that guides you in the
technology featuresandanother thatwill guideyou in formaldetails, structureof
theworkandbusiness/managementtopics.
Your proposal doesn’t need to be very formal but should be very clear. It should
contain:
1.PEGEI(orII,concerningwhatapplies)
2.Technologysupervisor(alreadyassumed,withnameandcontact,orintended,or
yousayyouarenotabletodefineit)
3.Atitle
4.Oneparagraphsaboutyourmotivationtoworkonthatsubject
5.Acontextofyourwork(whataretheboundaries,yourbroadscopedefinition).
6.Atentativeresearchquestionshouldalwaysbepresented.Theresearchquestion
issomethingthatwillguideyouthroughyourresearch,andthroughthewritingof
yourreport.
The title is always provisional as it can change through time adapting to your
learningcurve(thatis,themoreyouknowaboutthesubject,themoreyouareable
todefinewhatyoureallywanttodo).
ApartfromclarifyingwhichPEGEyouaredoing,appointingatechnologysupervisor,
defining a title, expressing yourmotivation, explaining your context, and research
question,youshouldprovidetworeferences(justthereferences,notthearticles)to
two articles (papers, conference proceedings, book chapters, books) on the same
subject.

Apart from referencing authors and published work, you need to reference all
Figures and Tables and, if it is the case, report the source of the information
presented in these figures and tables. When I say reference to a figureor table, I
mean you need to say in the text something like “As we can see in Figure 1,
blablabla”.Youcannotsay“intheFigureabove,orbelow”!
