Prom is a party hosted by the school for students who are graduating from high school. All graduating students are invited to attend prom. It is possibly the last opportunity for the graduating class to get together; a time to reflect on the years of hard work leading up to graduation, and to make memories for the future. It is usually held in a banquet hall, with a sit-down dinner and dancing to follow into the night. Graduates, are you ready for ? Multifest is Clarkson's annual multicultural showcase of food and talent; with a school-wide fashion show of traditional and contemporary clothing from around the world. Organized by the student-run Multifest Committee under Mrs. Khan's supervision, the evening of May 23 rd was full of excitement and fun – a true celebration of diversity in our Clarkson Community. A huge turnout came to see the talents of our students, including our PIA students. Many thanks to Ms. Khan and the Multifest Committee, CLARKSON PROM 2014: WHEN: Friday, June 6, 2014 @ 6PM (You must arrive between 6-7PM – there will be no "in and out" privileges) WHERE: The Mississauga Grand, 35 Brunel Rd., Mississauga, ON WHO: The graduating class of 2014 WHAT TO WEAR: Girls usually wear a fancy dress and nice shoes (ex: high heels, sandals, flats, etc.). Boys usually wear a suit, dress shirt with dress pants, tie or bowtie (optional), and nice (dress) shoes. IMPORTANT: Try not to bring too many (or any) of your valuables to prom. It's better to be safe than sorry. DON'T FORGET: Your prom ticket, student/photo ID, camera (optional), and of course, HAVE FUN! along with all of the teachers and students who were able to make this event a memorable and exciting one. What is prom? Prom is a party hosted by the school for students who are graduating from high school. All graduating students are invited to attend prom. It is possibly the last opportunity for the graduating class to get together; a time to reflect on the years of hard work leading up to graduation, and to make memories for the future. On Saturday May 10th, Ms. Luffman and our PIA students were busy talking to visitors at the Peel Mandarin Association's annual "Better Education Opportunities" Conference at the Peel District School Board Office, in Mississauga. Students distributed information about the programs within PIA, discussing their experiences and all the great

On Tuesday, May 27th, the PIA students joined the Math students on a field trip to Canada's Wonderland. Students enjoyed all the attractions, including roller coasters, eating funnel cake, ice cream, candied apples; and had an amazing time with their friends and teachers. Special thanks to Ms. Mureseanu and the Math Department for organizing this event!

PIA Goes to Wonderland!

Every year, Clarkson holds a cancer drive fundraiser in May. In one week, students and teachers work together in raising money for Camp Oochigeas (Ooch), an organization that caters to kids who are affected by childhood cancer. This year,

opportunities available at Clarkson Secondary School. While they were there, our students were able to attend workshops, including IELTS preparation tips, how to excel at Math, and applying to university in the USA. Thanks to Scott Song, Ruolin Jiao, Gary Jiang, and Tia Yang for volunteering their time on Saturday.

we've successfully exceeded our goal of $19,000.00! Our PIA students also helped raise almost $500.00 in just one day by selling food and other goodies to the students and staff.

This is a requirement for graduation in Ontario. Whether it's learning about our Canadian celebrities, or novel studies, Ms. Mureseanu's ESL A, B, and C classes show their creative side and artistic flare.

A year in student work - What PIA students are doing in the classroom

Ms. Khan's Grade 10 Academic English classes make connections to what they've read by creating innovative projects, such as timelines, photo-essays, and even character profile "fakebook" accounts.

Ms. Gonzales' Grade 10 Academic English class use "Bitstrips" to illustrate "alternative endings" in their Short Fiction unit; while her Grade 11 and 12 University English classes orally present theme-maps and "Press Conference" presentations to show off their insight on the literature they’ve read in class.
