Q1 and Q2 summary

For the first part of 2019, our focus was performance, quality and consistency. Changes and improvements were done across allprocess and flows, and we begun the process of uniformizing WMS across all processes – for example, supporting serials across all logistics operations.

An extended testing phase and more restrict quality rules were observed, following the rule “quality above everything else”.


Recent Innovations for Beas Manufacturing Integration


Phase 1 - Main communication between Production <-> Logistics area Initial integration done, both products cooperate in multiple scenarios. We want to make that connection more streamlined so we are adding several fine-tuning processes. The first public release is set for the end of October.

Production stock transactions can read information from WMS warehouse and locations (production goods issues, goods receipt, backflush).

Recent Innovations


Serial Number SupportSerial number support has been extended to many other flows and processes. More than 20 processes now fully support serial numbers. A full list can be found on the release notes.

Note: a few processes are still not fully supporting serial numbers – those processes will be covered in future releases

Recognize GTIN (AI 02)Recognizing GTIN (AI 02) when scanning an SSCC that contains a GTIN (AI 02). Produmex WMS recognizes the GTIN and skips the step to scan or select the item or product. In this case, after scanning a valid code, the flow continues with step Enter Quantity.Note: This feature is currently available for the picking flow only, but it will be expanded to all flows in future releases.

Express Ad Hoc PickingIf the setting is enabled, step Scan SSCC / Scan Location and Product is skipped. After selecting a product, the flow continues with the Enter Quantity step.Product Line LockingWhen using production lines, the lock items picked to this location now also works with picklists.WMS Logo UpdateProdumex WMS uses the official Boyum IT product logo)

Alternate PickingAdded possibility to force the user to use the first available batch (Ordered on FEFO). If the batch is stored on several locations/SSCC/… the user can still choose where he wants to pick the stock from. Limit Wave Selection Powerful customization option that allows a query to be used to limit/filter the waves displayed at the terminal. This adds the possibility to limit the waves that can be selected on the scanner.

Prepare CartsThe Prepare carts flow can be used for orders, where items can be picked from one or more carton boxes in which the items will be shipped. The flow is based on a wave and makes it possible to assign more than one carton box and more than one movable location to each pick list in the selected wave. ASN Import ModuleThis adds a default ASN import, plus a customization option for the header (to easier integrate into multiple ASN csv layouts)

Serial Number ManagementSerial number management by receipt from scanner production flow.Produce: When the scanner proceeds to consume the serial numbers to be used for production, you can go back to the Select a Production Order screen again Consume: If there is more than one item managed by serial number, any serial number from any of the reserved logistic units can be used.A new screen Consume is displayed during the material consumption process.

DatabaseProdumex WMS 19.2 removes the need for an extra PMX database. For performance reasons, all standard views, functions and stored procedures are created in the company database, and any customized views, functions and stored procedures need to be moved manually.

Document handlingXML DI-API method used for all SAP documents. Over 40 documents were changed to be handled using XML in DI-API, providing a much faster response in all parts of Produmex WMS. This affects both documents used in B1 client and scanner. Bug FixesDue to a more controlled testing process and a larger focus on quality, this release now contains over 50 bugs fixes. The full list can be found on the release notes.

Q3 and Q4 plans

Until the end of 2019, our focus will still be building consistency in the product. Because of that, we favor changes that make WMS more uniformized and closes gaps in its functionally, as opposed to adding new features.New features will still come, but they will be mainly expanding existing features to other flows and process. Our goal for the rest of the year is diminish the exceptions scenarios, so that our customers and partners can enjoy an interface easier and faster to learn from.

Planned InnovationsAndroid native releaseOur plan is a bit delayed, but our target release date remains 2019. Our current planning aims to a release in Android by mid-November this year.The first release will be a feature-by-feature of the current version in Android, with means it has no new features or improvements comparing to the existing Windows and Windows CE versions.

Future releases will have new UI/UX and new features. We will maintain support for the current Windows CE version, but encourage our customers to plan to move to Android as Microsoft will end all support for all versions of Windows CE on January 2020.Our first Android release will coexist with the current Scan versions for Windows and Windows CE.

Bug fixes and core changes can be expected to be available in all variants of Produmex Scan (Windows CE, Windows, and Android) during 2020. Features and improvements on the User Interface and User Experience will only be available in Android and Windows: NOT in Windows CE.
