Installation

● You must be running SeisSpace version 5000.8.5.0 or above to use Pecos in SeisSpace.

● Download and extract the prowess_xtgeo.tar.gz folder into the desired install location.

● In your SSclient script, or wherever you set your MY_PROWESS_HOME environment variable, append the path to the prowess_xtgeo folder to your MY_PROWESS_HOME environment variable.

● Restart SeisSpace.

Import Data Requirements

● Data must be in either ProMAX or JavaSeis format

– ProMAX datasets require a SmartFramework (created by running the “Javaseis Framework Create” tool on a ProMAX dataset). In ProMAX/SeisSpace, the icon for a ProMAX dataset is a blue circle. If the dataset has a SmartFramework, the circle will have a green border. JavaSeis datasets already have a SmartFramework.

● Data must be CDP ordered, and 3-dimensional

– Use CMP as the fundamental data type, CDP as the Frame axis header, SEQNO as the Trace axis header, and TIME_IND as the Sample axis header.

● Data must have SIN and REC_SLOC in headers

– These are populated in the headers by running Data Input → Extract Database Files → Data Out. This will also create the OPF databases if they do not exist. Note: in the OPF database, SIN is the shot index and SRF is the receiver index; however, in the trace headers, the receiver index is stored in REC_SLOC. These values will be loaded into the SRF column in Pecos.

Starting Pecos● Click the “more tools (plugins)” icon in the SeisSpace Navigator. It's a small white square

with a grey plus sign.

● A drop-down menu will appear. Pecos should be in this list. Simply click the Pecos icon and it will launch.

– The location of the license server should already be set in the Pecos runner script which comes pre-configured in the installation, so you don't need to worry about this.

Creating a Project● Select the input dataset from the data tree on the left hand side.

● Click on the “New SeisSpace Project” icon above the tree.

Creating a Project● In the project creation dialog, set the name of the project, as well as dimensions and units.

– You can name the project automatically after the dataset, or specify your own project name.

● When finished setting parameters, click “Create Project.”

● Note: in the current beta release, the 2D option is disabled. This will be implemented in future releases. In the meantime, any 2D line can be built as a 3D project; simply set the Bin number as the CDP for import. Also set the Bin as the Inline number, and set the Crossline to a constant value.

– If you have a very crooked 2D line, build it as a 3D project without the adjustments listed above.

Opening a Project● Projects are created in the ProMAX Line directory containing the corresponding input

dataset.

● To open a project, expand the relevant Line directory and the “Residual Projects” folder in the data tree on the left.

● Selecting a project in the tree will open it in the main window.

– If the project selected is already open, it will become selected in the main window.

● At the moment there is no way to close open projects; this will be forthcoming in the next release.

Using Pecos

● Please refer to the Pecos Quick Start document for instructions on residual analysis.

● Once you are finished computing residual statics, proceed to the next page.

Exporting Statics● Select the “Analysis results” tab within the Project window.

● Within this tab, select the “Import/Export” tab on the left.

● Click on the “Export statics to SeisSpace” button.

Exporting Statics● In the pop-up dialog, select the statics

solutions to export.

– Use Ctrl + click to select multiple solutions, or Shift + click to select a range.

● Click OK to copy.

Exporting Statics● Statics will be exported to the OPF database using the SIN and SRF values as a key.

● Exported columns have the name RDSTAT (along with an index number) in the OPF database.

● The name of the solution in Flatirons can be viewed in the Description column in the OPF.
