3. PECB Certified MS Auditor
The PECB Certified MS Auditor Credential is intended for professionals who want to demonstrate they are competent to lead a management system audit and manage an audit team.
The principal competencies and knowledge skills needed by the market are the ability to proficiently plan and perform audits based on the guidelines of the ISO 19011 standard and the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17021 standard to master the audit techniques and to manage (or be part of) audit teams.
4. Prerequisites of the candidate
In order to qualify for the PECB MS Auditor Program, an applicant needs to fulfill the following criteria:
4.1. Education:
Has a documented evidence of at least secondary level education.
4.2. Work experience:
Has 5 years of professional work experience.
4.3. Relevant work experience:
Has 2 years of relevant experience in the implementation, operation, and/or auditing of management systems.
4.4. Training:
Has an ISO Lead Auditor Certificate which should be obtained from an international recognized PCB along with a proof of attendance of such a Lead Auditor Training. This training should be a 40 hours training.
4.5. Audit experience:
Has performed at least four (4) complete audits, the total duration of which should be a minimum of twenty (20) days. For Lead Auditors, at least three (3) of these audits should have been performed as a team leader.
4.6. Personal behaviour:
Is able to demonstrate the best personal behavior necessary to carry out effective audits in accordance with clause 7.2.2 of ISO 19011:2011 and Annex D of ISO 17021:2011.

4.7. Competence:
Is able demonstrate that he/she has the needed competence and knowledge to carry out an effective audit in accordance to the clause 7.2.3.2 of ISO 19011:2011.
5. Examination and additional training
Besides the initial requirements, candidates need to have some examinations and additional training completed:
5.1. ISO Lead Auditor Exam/Certificate:
The candidate should have obtained an ISO Lead Auditor Certificate after passing the respective examination. Evidence of passing the exam should be provided to PECB.
5.2. Interview:
Besides the written examination, candidates will need to go through an online interview with PECB. Interviews are held online and are necessary to further elaborate on the information provided from the candidate’s CV and professional experience. The interview consists of questions that include areas of planning the audit, reporting nonconformities, handling difficult situation, previous experience, etc.
5.3. Advanced Auditing Techniques (AAT) Training:
A special PECB designed training which intends the preparation of MS Auditors and advancement of their audit techniques in accordance with the PCB audit processes and procedures. Additionally, during this training role play audits will be conducted as part of the practical part of the training.
5.4. Observation/Witnessing:
Candidates will be subject to an observation while conducting an audit on behalf of the PCB. The purpose of the witness audit is to validate and gain confidence in the knowledge and skills of the candidate. The observation will be done either on-site or remotely and will be conducted by PCB Trusted Witness Auditors.
Note: In case any of the examination methods above is not passed by the candidate, he/she needs to retake the examination until it has been passed.

6. Certification
6.1. Applying for the certificate
Candidates should fulfill the above stated requirements within the timeframe of one (1) year from the date of the initial application. All candidates who fulfill the requirements are entitled to apply for the credential of the PCB Certified MS Auditor
6.2. Validity of the certificate
The ‘PCB Certified MS Auditor’ Certificate is valid for three (3) years. During these three years, auditors will be evaluated on a continuous basis through different evaluation methods such as: observation, review of records, feedback from clients, post-audit reviews, etc.
7. Recertification
7.1. Timeframe for recertification
The recertification process can be performed in the time period of six (6) months prior/after the expiry date. If recertification has not been performed during the set time period, the auditor may be required to pass an additional examination.
7.2. Audit evidence
For each recertification, PECB Certified MS Auditors should submit evidence of having performed a minimum of three (3) complete audits with at least 10 audit days on-site during the last 3 years. One of the audits should be in the capacity of a Lead Auditor, leading a team of at least on other auditor.
7.3. Professional development
Each PECB Certified MS Auditor should undertake at least 16 hours of professional development activities. These activities may be participation in courses or seminars, self-studies or other acceptable means of professional development.
8. Suspension and/or withdrawal of certification
PECB reserves the right to suspend and/or withdraw a certificate in case of:
a) Falsification of applicationb) Failure to provide to PECB the evidences required by this certification schemec) Wrong usage of certificate and/or logod) Breach of PECB and IPC Code of Ethicse) Non-payment of certification fees
