Unit 3 Exam Thoughts:

Vocal is essential: learn the vocabulary. The rest of the whole unit is based around knowing the vocabulary.

Do your homework. Over 50% of the test was pulled directly from classwork and homework.

Read the directions. So few people followed the directions on the test :(

Pocahontas / Matoaka shows that race wasn’t as important back then as religion.

Anthony Johnson shows how back then, Black folks were treated the same as whites and could become very successful.

The fact that they didn’t ask for race in wanted posters shows how they didn’t see race back then.

Bacon’s Rebellion shows that blacks and whites wanted to work together but the powerful people used “Divide

and Conquer” to try and keep them separated.

The fact that they had to create laws to enforce slavery shows that it wasn’t a natural thing that just happened.

Linneaus and Blumenbach show that they had to use science to try and defend slavery.

Latinos & “Race”

“Race” is not BETTER than “Ethnicity.”

“Latino” is not a race in the USA because there are Black, white, brown, Asian, etc. Latinos. By definition race is based on physical looks. Latinos come in all colors.

“Mestizo” is closer to a race…
