Classic Foreign Films Beginning January and continuing through
April, we will show a variety of foreign films
on select Mondays. The popular Popcorn & A Movie monthly
films will continue at its regular time of 1:00pm but on other Mon-
days at the same time, foreign films will be shown. These films
will have subtitles to explain the foreign conversations. This
month:
Jan 9th: “La Cage aux Folles” (French/Italian) means “birds
of a feather” and was directed by Mike Nichols. Critic Roger
Ebert said, “the movie is a sheer comic invention about good-
hearted people.” At times a farce, at times a social satire, the film
is a mix with a few plausible human truths.
Jan 30th: “Hecho En Mexico” (Spanish) means “Made in
Mexico” and is a musical film to remember. The movie showcas-
es the richness of Mexican music and artistry. The psyche of the
Mexican people and their heritage are highlighted.

Popcorn & A Movie Mon, Jan 23rd at 1:00pm
“The Meddler” Sponsored by Life Care Center of
Michigan City With a new iPhone, an apartment near the Grove, and a comfortable
bank account left to her by her beloved late husband, Marnie Minervini
has happily relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her
daughter Lori, a successful (but still single) screenwriter, and smother
her with motherly love. But when the dozens of texts, unexpected vis-
its, and conversations dominated by unsolicited advice force Lori to
draw strict personal boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eter-
nal optimism and forceful generosity to change the lives of others – as
well as her own – and find a new purpose in life.
Rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for brief drug content.

Michigan City Senior Center
makes the New York Times!
Our very own Jack McGann had an article
published in the New York Times entitled:
“Becoming Bilingual: It’s an Asset, Not a
Waste.” The article spoke specifically about
taking language classes here at the M.C. Sen-
ior Center. We think our language classes
are pretty fantastic too so thank you Jack for
the acknowledgement!
The Asst. Direc-
tors Dorothy &
Georgiana want-
ed to say thank
you sincerely to
all who helped at
the Christmas
Party. Because
of your help,
everything went
smoothly. Give
yourself a round
of applause!

Director’s Corner In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday this month, I am re-printing this poem written by our very own George Neagu about Dr. King. Happy New Year! Tara
The history of man clearly
Shows of those who lived
There are men of special birth
Whom we regard with special worth.
Unique in this small tribe of men
We offer our high salute,
In solemn joy recalling once again,
What Dr. King did then.
With giant heart he led the fight
For social justice in our land,
With bravery he lit the light
That brought our conscience into sight.
With power-packed words did he reveal
The essence of the Cause,
In sonorous tones he made us feel
That America was still unreal.
With dedication from the soul
He braved the bottles and the bricks,
With love he sought to make our nation whole
And would not stop until he reached his goal.
Frequent jailings could not restrain
The Soul Force of this man,
Nor could water hose or club detain
Beliefs and ideals of his brain.
The Drum Major lives on, as we pause
To join birthday celebration,
To honor the man and his cause,
So deserving of applause.
Yet those who knew him would agree
The greatest birthday gift of all,
Is social action where need be
To end injustice that you see
So let our song be from a grateful nation
Happy Birthday, Dr. King !!!
Let us sing with great elation
In honor of your creation!!!
