Construction Engineering and Management Spring 2015 Graduate Course Announcement CVEN 5236 Project Management Systems Course Information: Class Time: W 6:30 - 9:15 PM Location: North Classroom Credits: 3 Description: This course explores the fundamentals of the International Standard supported by the Project Management institute’s (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge. Using a range of case studies and project work, the course prepares students for PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification tests. Pre-requisite: None. Course Organization: Students read assignments prior to class so they are prepared to discuss concepts during class. Quizzes are given weekly and cover discussed material. Learning Objectives: Address the basic nature of managing projects and the advantages and disadvantages to this approach Introduce the characteristics, techniques, and problems associated with initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closeout of projects Develop a management perspective about projects to help develop future project managers Instructor: Robert W.
