The story of TRYGG-chains began in 1927 when a young engineer named Alf Nøsted arrived in Mandal to work as a technical advisor at “Mandal’s Nail & Wire Rope Factory”. After some years of building his expertise in wire drawing technology he went on to establish his own factory with the help of local investors “Norsk Kjettingindustri AS” commencing production in May 1939.The founder’s son - Arve Nøsted took over as the CEO in the mid 1950’s and the company experienced two decades of substantial growth and expansion. New and better technology was regularly introduced, including fully automatic stud welding machines in 1970 which gave a huge competitive edge to the company and contributed greatly to its further development. Then in 1980 the company name was changed to “Nøsted Kjetting AS”. Over the years chain export grew, first to Europe , then to North and South America, and gradually exports became the major contributor to the growth and success of Trygg chains.The significance of the North American market was reflected in the 1983 with the acquisition of “Chaine Select Inc.” Quebec, Canada, to provide service and distribution in North America. The early 1990’s saw declining markets but by 1995 Trygg sales were back on a growth path, thanks to a wide range of quality products, new technologies and increased distribution. Production capabilities were significantly strengthened in 2003 with the addition of Nosted Mechanika in Lithuania where a highly skilled and competitive work force continues to be instrumental in the sales growth of Trygg chains.Today Nosted Kjetting As. remains a family owned and managed company using modern and innovative technology to produce safe and reliable chains for our valued customers.

A tightening rail is an additional side chain that can help keep chains straight on the tires. Hook eyes are clipped to the side chain and a length of chain is pulled thru the eyes, cinched and secured with a schakle. There are 3 kits for different sized tirechains. Each kit includes36 forged hook eyes , 2 pcs of 4,5 meters of suitable side chain with a ring on one end and a shackle in the other end.

Tips for correct useWe recommend to roll the chain on to the tire. This ensures a better fit and easier tightening.

Fasten the mesh first. Then fasten the side chain. If it’s equipped with a tightening rail, fasten this last.

Truck chains: Lay the chain over the wheel with the boomer on the outside. Pull outside boomer and inside fastener as far in under the wheel as possible and move the vehicle about 1/4 wheel length.

* Always read the mounting instructions prior to installing tire chains.

* Always re tighten chains after driving a short distance!

On full floating Flexi chains, like The Fast Trac, Swiss Flexi, SMT Flexi: * Always adjust flexi links on the side chains before mounting. * Cut away excessive chain after the chain is rolled on.* After excessive chain is removed, connect the mesh first. Then connect the side chains.

Tightening rail

The chains must always be properly fitted to the tire.High speeds require that the center mesh is snugly fitted. With all our chains we enclose the manual “Installation, Use And Safety.”

A complete table which shows the fitting possibilities is enclosed with the chain.

The last section may be completely removed and the last two sections can be shortened.

The side chain is easily and securely adjusted.

Lighter chains are shortened by cutting centre mesh.

Proper Use & Safety

Breakage is the most common chain damage.

Doubling your speed quadruples the stress on the chain. High speed, even in very short periods, may introduce invisible cracks in the chain surface. Such cracks will eventually develop into a full breakdown, even during normal careful operations. This may sometimes explain an “inexplicable” breakage. Breakage due to the chain being too loose:The stress on the chain is considerably reduced when the chain is properly tightened. A well tightened chain “rolls” easily.

WarrantyTrygg chains are warranted from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase by the user. Disclaimer in warranty: No other warranty expressed or implied, including the implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or wear ability is given, and no affirmation of seller by words or action shall constitue a warranty.

Disclaimer of damages: Trygg will not pay any claim for labor on any of its products or for delays or damages by reason of their use. In no event shall Trygg or its dealers be liable for any incidental or consequential damages.

Buyers remedies: Sole remedy for a justified defective claim is limited exclusively to obtaining either repair or replacement or credit at the discretion of Trygg.

Claim procedure: -Alleged defect must be reported to a Trygg representative withing 10 days of discovery and within the warranty period stated above.-A warranty claim form, with photos and proof of purchase must be sent to a Trygg representative.-Transport costs for returned product will not be accepted or reimbursed without previous written approval from a Trygg representative.

Safety

Tire chain is especially hardened for the application intended. This hardening makes the chain hard and brittle compared to lifting chains. Under high tension the chain can suddenly break with no pre warning and pieces of metal may fly. Life is endangered when tire chains are used for unintended purposes such as towing, tie-down and lifting!Speed:Tire chains are used during difficult driving conditions and tire chains may break. Thus, driving with tire chains requires special consideration. One must never drive faster than 50 km/h (30miles/h) The driver must always observe the potential risks and drive at a safe speed.

By using Trygg tire chains you declare to have read and will observe the warnings and guidelines hereunder and you will not assert any claims against the manufacturer, importer or retailer in case of non-observance.

Difficult driving conditions:

Always use tire chains when difficult driving conditions are expected and before getting in trouble. The chains are not made for spinning your way out of trouble, but to increase the tire grip and reduce operating risks.
