Dear Albion friends and families,

The month of March was busy and filled with many events. Albion students and

staff celebrated with a Twins Spirit Day after a record breaking “Pennies for

Patients” collection. Student Council raised $1,155.17 to donate to childhood

leukemia research. March 14th focused on Math in honor of Pi Day. Classrooms

explored this mathematical calculation in a number of fun and interesting ways

throughout this day.

National School Breakfast week helped kick start our day. All students received a

free breakfast on Monday. The breakfast line was out the door all week as students

that participated in purchasing a breakfast entered into a raffle to win a BMX style

bike. Dillon Rebello was announced as the Albion winner. Students and staff took a

day to celebrate Albion’s cultural diversity. All were encouraged to dress in a

manner that celebrates their personal heritage and family culture. Heritage day

fostered positive discussion about culture and differences. Thanks to all that

participated.

As we look ahead, Albion will host a community meeting at our school on April 19th. As you know, the

Community Engagement Task Force presented a recommendation to the Board and Community on February 1st

to address the facility needs of the district. That recommendation was to build new at the elementary level,

renovations at the middle school, and a combination renovation and new construction at the high school. The

Board of Education is now holding these meetings at each school to get parent and community members’

feedback before any decision is made. Hope to see a great turn out on this evening.

Sincerely,

Mr. Vince Ketterer

Dear Albion Family,

Soon we will be starting the final quarter of the school year, amazing how quickly this year has flown by. At

our March meeting the Albion PTA 2016-2017 board of officers were approved:

President – Leesa Jacubenta

1st VP – Michelle Bauer

2nd VP – Pam Brown

3rd VP – Cristina Hornik

4th VP – Christine Dockrill

Secretary – Ann Gurin

Treasurer – Open at this time

Council Delegates – Cathleen Finnecy, Kelly Close

Alternate Council Delegates – Madeleine Michel

Congratulations to the executive board members! I encourage all PTA members to consider chairing a

committee for the 2016-2017 school year. The list will be available at the next meeting, or you can email me if

you have any specific committees you would like to help with.

There are still opportunities to volunteer your time for PTA events yet this year. Muffins with Mom is coming

in May, a great time for Dads to step in and help out. Teacher Appreciation, Field Day, School Carnival and

end of year picnics are also coming up and in need of volunteers. More about these opportunities will be sent

within the newsletter and posted on FB. Albion PTA depends on the time and talents of all of our members

who choose to volunteer their time, many thanks to all of you who have offered your time and help.

Thanks to:

Allison Fowler and her wonderful team of volunteers for all their hard work in organizing a

successful fundraiser!

Sara Hatfield for another successful BoxTops collection.

Rebekah Thompson for organizing our Marco’s pizza nights

Tammy Fulmer for a fantastic Art show

To all the volunteers who help with everything—we could not do this without you!

Our next meeting will be held Friday, April 15th

@ 9:30 am at the North Royalton Library. As always, thank

you for your continued support and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Hoping you had a great Spring Break!

Thank you for making the 2016 Albion Family & Friends

Night at The Jump Yard a huge success!!

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our PTA fundraiser at The Jump Yard, we were able to raise more than

$6,200! We couldn’t have done it without everyone who volunteered and donated. A special thanks to The

Jump Yard for allowing us to host the event at their facility at a discounted rate and giving us a percentage of

the concession and arcade sales for the evening.

NEW BUSINESS

Looking to make a website for Albion PTA. Valley Vista has one, they can pay on line for dues; sell

items for spirit wear; get calendar and information. Possibly budgeting for this? Valley Vista is $400 a

year. Know of anyone who can do this? If you have anyone who can help us out, please let me know!

Officer Reports

1st VP – Membership – Jen Kimmel – no report.

2nd

VP-Ways & Means – Allison Fowler – thank you for all the wonderful donations, copies, setup and all

around help. Profit was over $6,200.

3rd

VP-Book Fair – Sara Hatfield – no report

4th

VP School Pictures & Yearbooks – Ann Gurin – Yearbook has been submitted. It was a team effort. A

Memoriam page was added for Sarah Mendoza’s passing. Inter-state is aware the software is cumbersome for

the yearbook creation. Should receive books in April/May and 4th

grade will receive theirs first. Next Friday is

Spring picture day – more casual not required.

Committee Reports

Marco’s Pizza – Rebekah Thompson – Next Thursday is pizza night. 3rd

and 4th

graders created their own

pizza box.

Art Show – Tammy Fulmer – great feedback. Ice cream was missed this year. Some of the exhibits were a little

long winded. Next year will make more social time.

Reflections – we would like all winners to send in their artwork so we can acknowledge them in the year book

this year. Also, council winners (items sent to state) will be acknowledged at the March 7th

school board

meeting.
