look forward to

Colombia has gotten hold of our hearts and through a renaissance it is opening its doors to travellers wanting to appreciate all of its untouched charms first hand. From hiking in the stunning Tayrona national park to smothering yourself in therapeutic mud from Colombia’s famous Volcan de Lodo el Totumo and horseback riding through the coffee plantations. This is a destination you don’t want to miss.

city galore

Whether you head for the off-beat charms of Cali, or the heady vibe of colonial Cartagena, Colombia’s cities pack quite the punch. Start off in Bogota in the historical part of La Candelaria and Plaza Bolivar before shaking it down in Parque 93 for some well-deserved chill-out time. One of our favourite spots is Cartagena, a decadent and dizzyingly atmospheric city on the Caribbean coast. If you’re looking for a city with a non-stop party atmosphere, then Cali is your place.

café de colombia

A trip to Colombia would not be the same without a visit to the site of one of its most well-known exports – coffee. Just a short flight from Bogota you could find yourself in any one of the regions of Caldas, Quindío and Risaralda, otherwise known as the Triangulo Del Cafe – the Coffee Triangle. All three regions are flanked by the snow capped peaks of the Parque Natural Los Nevados to the east. Absolutely stunning.

amazonian love

With the world’s largest rainforest and network of rivers in it’s back garden, Colombia is the perfect place if you want to throw yourself into some outdoor adventure. The gateway to the Amazon is Leticia, a bustling hub that borders Brazil and Peru and makes for a great base to launch yourself into the jungle. Using the river as your primary means of transport, jump into a canoe to reach the thickest parts of the jungle where you’ll meet indigenous tribes and eye-grabbing wildlife.

party like a colombian No one quite knows how to party like the Colombians. Don’t believe us? Than head to Barranquilla for a four day carnival filled with music, dance and street parties. It’s the biggest carnival outside of Rio and we guarantee you won’t be able to stop your body moving even if you tried.

gold finger Displaying the largest gold display in the world, Bogota’s Gold Museum is one stop you don’t want to miss. Throw any preconceptions of old stuffy museums out the window and prepared to have your socks blown off in Bogota.

the caribbean sea The best way to end your visit in Colombia is on the beach. Santa Marta, has wide beaches perfect for swimming and scuba diving with a mountainous backdrop. Just east of Santa Marta sits Taganga, a tiny fishing village that makes for the perfect day visit. Parque Nacional Tayrona has a bit of everything with magnificent crystal blue waters and a white sandy coastline. Colombia is a beach lover’s paradise.
